On tap at Franklins 10/17/11. Nice orange pour with a white head. Aroma was massive citrus and resin hoppiness. Grapefruit comes to the front but there’s some sweet orange and lemon hints in there too. Pine resin plays a back note. Smells awesome. Flavor was amazing on the front end. Big citrus hop bomb with a decent sweet backbone. This beer is brutal on the back end though. Intensely bitter. It gets into a fist fight with your tongue. The malt character wasn’t up to the challenge of taming the hops bitterness. I enjoyed this thoroughly until I got about halfway through the glass then I had to throw in the towel. Kick up the malt profile a bit and this would be a clear winner.

Draft. Hazy amber body, small off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some herbal, pine, orange. taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some pineapple/pine. Highly bitter. Medium body, some resin.

On tap at the brewpub: pours a clear deep golden with a clingy-lacing white head. Has a sweet light caramel malty nose with lots of crisp resiny piny hops. Starts with good fullness and pale malty sweetness with a healthy dose of citrusy bittering and flavor hops before a slightly drier bittersweet finish. True to style and dangerously drinkable.

Draft on 09/23/11. Arrived at the table a slightly hazy copper color with a skim of a beige head. Fairly standard I2PA aroma profile with plenty of floral qualities and some spiciness to go along with the resiny pine, grapefruits, and rich caramel maltiness. Went down medium-bodied. No surprises taste-wise - plenty of chewy caramel upfront followed by a slightly biscuity middle and lots of grapefruits and citrus rinds at the end. Resiny and bitter. Lots of spiciness was present throughout. Some warming alcohol was mildly noticeable.
