Pours a clear deep copper with a small froth of clingy-lacing off-white head. Has a fresh piny hoppy nose with lightly sweet toasty caramel malt and a hint of grainy rye. Starts with pretty good fullness and rich toasty caramel and rye sweetness with a fresh resiny grapefuity hoppy bitterness before a crisp bittersweet finish. Well-balanced and hides the alcohol well.

Growler. Pours a hazy, orange copper amber with a thin, spitty white head. Nice, earthy aroma, hoppy, biscuit dough, crackers, malt, lemon zest, light pine, almost a little rosemary. Flavor is sweet, bitter, grapefruit, lime zest, some sticky hops. Full bodied, bitter finish.

lamas (1071) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 24, 2010
Draft on 10/21/10. Came to the table a hazy rust color with a skim of a tan head. A very pungent and resiny aroma of pine needles, grapefruits, rye bread, some caramel, and a hint of freshly baked biscuits. Goes down full-bodied and pretty sticky, though the carbonation is just a tad low. Loaded upfront in the taste with plenty of caramel/toffee maltiness. Lots of biscuits and rye bread in the middle. Tons of tongue-stripping grapefruitiness at the drying end. A peppery finish. Kinda harsh, but still very nice.
