4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jeffc666 (1984) - Fairfax, USA - MAR 7, 2004
A slightly hazed orange amber body with a tiny almost non-existent small particled head. Aroma is a huge burst of grapefruit and sweet caramel malt, then a big wallop of pine. The flavor is lots of hops, citrus and pine, with a good bit of sweet malt and a loads of bitterness. Full creamy body with a very pleasing soft mouth-feel. A very nice IIPA. Yum. So good that I got a growler.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 argo0 (9227) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 10, 2004
Hazy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, cherry. Taste is the same, only bigger. Alcohol is noticeable but not overpowering. Full body with some stickiness.

Slightlly hazy ruby-orange. Nose very hoppy, scotchy. Very hoppy, soft, peachy and apricots. Great sugars hang around, coats nicely. Bitter, citric, tart. Bit medicinal but very good.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hopscotch (7542) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - FEB 27, 2004
This beer rocks!
Murky, burnt orange ale with a small, white, creamy head. Decent lacing. The nose is glorious and just chock full "o" hops. Pineapple, black pepper and a hint of spruce. The flavor is malty, rich, spicy and very well-balanced by a strong malt profile. A beautiful blend of malted grain and bitter herbs. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, pleasantly bitter finish. World class stuff from Charles at Franklins.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 scraff (2120) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 25, 2004
UPDATED: FEB 27, 2004 Wow...This is one hell of an Imperial IPA. On cask, but sampled on regular draught too. Rating of the cask (a bit higher ABV too). Burnt orange color with not much head (due to cask version) Super hopped with crazy flavors all over the place, but still maintaining a tightly wound hop bomb. Aroma (as it warmed) was bitter sugared grapefruits and oranges, pine sap, with hints of brown sugar covered apricots. All backed up with a fantastic alcohol infused malt backbone of caramel, toffee, fuzzy fruit, and fresh baked bread to wrap things up. One great beer from start to finish. Too bad it's not bottled. This would be a guaranteed hit with my fellow RB'eerians across the country. All I can say is you local guys should make an effort to try this. Definitely worth it. Should be a around for at least the next month or so.
