2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 OldGrowth (2138) - North Carolina, USA - JUN 11, 2013
bottle, from brewer, ok aroma, tart, fruity. clean brownihs orange color, small head that faded quick, no lace. Sour flavor. medium body, thin, creamy mouthfeel, sour finish. Aroma, best part, nice, has the fruitiness, flavor and finish aren’t as appealling to me. it’s, vinous, but maybe it’s the lack of a fruitiness, I dunno, anyway, it’s ok

Tap at Meridian Pint. Clear, deep pond water pour. An uglier dark brown. No head, no lace. Nose is body odor, bleu cheese, big funky BO/cheese going on with some crayon and industrial wax. Taste begins with a decent lacto Berliner Weisse flavor (heavy lactic) then moves to some watery toast and abrasive harsh acid. Difficult to enjoy and I actually liked the blond version of this, Ludicrous.

Like a tart wine...pours red/purple, little head. Tart, slight fruit, a little funk, thin body and a dry finish. A good starter for someone getting in to sours, not too much sour, a lot of fruit, and tasty.

Sampled at the brewpub. Pours a hazy, brick red with some cloudy white head. Nose has some strawberry, rhubarb, vinegar, sweat socks, wet grass. Flavor is the same, heavy on the vinegar, heavy rhubarb, slightly metallic. Lactic finish. Weird.

Draft. Hazy purple maroon color, small beige head. Aroma of dirty feet and soiled socks with rotten plums in them. Taste is sour port wine and grapes. Interesting.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 lamas (1204) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Draft on 02/08/13. Arrived at the table a slightly hazy amber/ruby color with a smallish tan head. The aroma featured lots of sour lemons, tart cherries, grapes, and a decent amount of caramel underneath it all. Went down medium-bodied and rather crisp. The taste was overwhelmingly tart/sour from start to finish. Lemons, cherries, and vinous qualities dominated the flavor. A moderate caramel malty backbone became evident as things warmed up a bit. Rather acidic. The finish was kinda dry. Tasty stuff.
