Tap. Pours clear dark with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, toast, meal), average hops (floral, pine), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of oak, dates, and fruits. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation with a sweet texture and dry finish.

(1L bottle) Pours a dark amber-brown body with a medium creamy off-white head. Aroma of wood, cherry, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor of wood, cherry, caramel, raisins, and molasses with a dry finish.

Bottle generously shared at the RBSG grand tasting. Pours the color of cherry wood. Aroma has notes of cherries, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor is more vegetal with notes of peanut, edamame. Caramel, nutty malt backbone in the finish while also subtly tart.

1 liter bottle. Poured a deep amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, toasty, and fruitiness. Tastes of the same fruitiness, caramel, and some woodiness.

1 L bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is fruity and dark toasted malty flavoured. Fruity, hoppy and dry bitter flavoured. Bitter and dry herbal into the finish.

Draft on 04/02/11. Arrived at the table a hazy mahogany color with a thick antique white head. There was a subtle aroma of caramel, toffee, toasted grains, dark fruits (mainly plums and cherries), and hints of berries. Went down thin to medium-bodied. Some sweet caramel was present upfront in the taste along with some plums. There was some oakiness and a burnt graininess in the middle. Some mildly tart cherries were present at the end. A slightly bitter finish with touches of warming alcohol throughout.

Draft. Clear garnet body tpopped by creamy beige head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, plum/raisin, some caramel, molasses. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, molasses, some plum/raisin, light wood. Light-medium body, light stickiness.
