VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA May 3, 2009 Draft - Poured a dark reddish amber in color with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruity with plenty of yeast. Flavor is not that strong... slightly sweet with some banana, clove and citrus. Not at all like a traditional dunkel weisse, but pretty good... Frovigalning (398), , Sweden May 1, 2009 50 cl bottle. It poured a dark reddish cloudy liquid with a huge foam which left allot of lacing. The smell is allot weaker compared to the normal hefe-weissbier. But there is a hint of the sweetness in the background. The taste is very smooth allot less fizzy then the normal version. It’s also more malty with a hint of some toasted bread. A very nice beer but the normal version was better. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA May 1, 2009 Bottle sampled at SF International Beer Fest. Not as good as the hefe-weissbier but still solid. Dark amber color with a nice off-white head. Spices, earth, banana, and clove on the aroma. Sweet malt, roast, banana, clove, spices on the flavor. Smooth palate, medium body. onystrom (741), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark May 1, 2009 Dark brown amber color with fine head. Nice sweet aroma, and sweet burnt malty flavor. ComradeK (65), Australia May 1, 2009 300ml on tap at the Lowenbrau Bier Keller, Sydney. Clear, very dark gold, with a pillowy soft head. Fine weizen characteristics. It is not too bitter at all, but has a crisp and fresh taste, with the smoothness of a dunkel to back it up. A very pleasant drink. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 28, 2009 500ml bottle $2.49. Nice dark, cloudy brown color poured into a pilsener glass and had a foamy head but now its just a two centimeter blanket atop the beer. Aroma is slightly spiced but not what I would expect from a hefe, average. taste is nice and fruity and almost makes me think of chocolate bread for some reason. Not a bad beer at all considering the price.

Appearance: Its body has a brownish or ice tea color with a cloudy appearance. On top sits a big creamy tan head that has good retention, lasting until the finish after slowly fading to a small cap of foam. Its lacing was slick and slid down the glass as I drank.
Smell: The aroma hits you with a big overripe banana followed by some other fruity and earthy yeast notes with a touch of clove.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor starts with a lightly roasted wheat malt base with some fruity banana clove notes coming in. The wheat and yeast flavor gets dryer and brings dusty earthy notes. Hop flavor and bitterness is light and most noticeable in the finish. The finish is very dry with a smooth, thick, almost powdery texture. Carbonation feels about average and the body is a good solid medium.
Notes: For me I felt that this beer had a few ruff edges but overall was good.
Ryan82SM (231), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 23, 2009 Definite clover and banana aroma, similar to the hefeweizen. Small head that was gone by the time I sat down to drink, color resembled molasses. Clover, banana and fresh apple flavors, but perhaps a little watery. Palate was lively for the style, but went away quickly. This beer does things well, but for a seemingly short time.
