smjohnst (202), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2008 This is a very well made beer. It has a full body and alot of flavor. I wouldn’t really drink one on a hot day but it would be perfect in the winter. GJF (480), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Aug 1, 2008 Nice refreshing beer. Subtle yeast and spice aroma. The wheat flavor is mild and I don’t really get any of the roastiness of the malt, but it’s a tasty brew. dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jul 22, 2008 500 mL bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville. Hazy bronze pour with a very large head. Medium retention and good lacing. It takes a while to pour this thing. Rich and nutty yeast aroma with some fruity notes. Very light taste, with notes of yeast, wheat, nuts, caramel. Light to medium bodied. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Jul 21, 2008 Hazy, reddish brown appearance with a large, off white head and modest lacing. Subdued, wheaty aroma, moderately spiced, with a hint of caramel. Earthy, malty taste; some yeastiness, some fruitiness. Well carbonated, medium bodied mouithfeel with the characteristic smoothness. Slightly sweet, medium length finish. Guinnessman (88), VACAVILLE, California, USA Jul 14, 2008 One of the better dunkels I’ve had over the last 10 years. Nice aroma, good Franziskaner flavor with a hint of banana. Goes great with a garlic sausage. gueuzeisgod (109), Graham, North Carolina, USA Jul 13, 2008 .5l bottle, vigorous head quickly subsides to a thin film. Moderately clovey, no real hop aroma. The slightly dark color doesn’t translate to any caramel or roasty flavor, middle of the road flavor, good but not outstanding in it’s field. Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Jul 13, 2008 On tap. Brown pour, has a typical hefe smell of banans and cloves with a taste to match. Not really different in taste to a god hefe, just darker. Pretty good. glennmastrange (805), hobe sound, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Tap. Moderate notes of grain and roasted for the malt, light lemon and grass for the hops, moderate barnyard smell for the yeast and banana and clove in the background. Head is average sized, creamy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is muddy brown with tiny particles. Flavor starts lightly acidic and finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery, and has a lively carbonation. A nice deep roasted smell sets this Dunkelweizen apart from others.
