artvandelay (32), Ames, Iowa, USA Jun 14, 2007 On tap at Hessen Haus. Pours a murky brown with a thick lasting head and very good lacing. Nose is banana with roasted malt and some yeast. Taste is wheat a banana. Mouthfeel is lively with a nice chewiness. Finishes a little dry and somewhat bitter. Great session brew! JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Jun 13, 2007 On tap @ the Saloon in DC. Color’s a milk-choco brown with a thick, off-white head that ain’t goin’ nowhere. Serious aroma of chocolate malt and ripe banana, wow. More bananner in flavor, roasty-malty with some root beer notes. But it’s a touch sour instead of sweet or bitter, and it finishes a bit dry. Really enjoyed this beer a lot. VegDisc41 (42), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jun 11, 2007 Bottle. Pours a muddy brown with a good head. Smells of wheat and fruit, especially banana. Tastes too much of banana but not as overpowering as their hefe hell. Smooth. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Jun 10, 2007 Bottle. Pours a brown bod with a great head. Definitive aroma of yeast and solid interesting taste. I prefer other franziskaners to this one. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jun 3, 2007 Bottle at Corroboree, Berlin. Mud colour. Tall foam. Spicy, oaky aroma. Lemony and bananas. Full-bodied Dunkel. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA May 31, 2007 Pours a cloudy root beer brown with a large rocky head. The aroma is a strong banana and roasted malts. I have never sampled a beer that smells more like ripe bananas than this one. I like bananas. The mouthfeel is light, slick and soft. Very nice. The flavor follows the nose: sweet roasted malts followed by bananas and light wheat. The finish is smooth and sweet. Quite tasty. thomasacross (129), Edina, Minnesota, USA May 31, 2007 Bottle. Beautiful muddy brown; unfiltered. Huge head. Nice aroma of honey, banana, and spice. Beer is fizzy; found it too much so. Refreshing with some present alcohol astringency. Definitely a quality Dunkelweiss. DruncanVeasey (2690), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England May 30, 2007 Lightish muddy brown pour with an impressively rocky head of suds. Slightly woodsy snout with hints of toffee and banana. Buttery malt sweetness, toffee apple, banana and a pinch of clovey pepper in the finish. Faintly smoky as it warms. Quality Dunkel.
