The aroma is a strong banana and roasted malts. I have never sampled a beer that smells more like ripe bananas than this one. I like bananas. The mouthfeel is light, slick and soft. Very nice. The flavor follows the nose: sweet roasted malts followed by bananas and light wheat. The finish is smooth and sweet. Quite tasty. thomasacross (129), Edina, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2007 Bottle. Beautiful muddy brown; unfiltered. Huge head. Nice aroma of honey, banana, and spice. Beer is fizzy; found it too much so. Refreshing with some present alcohol astringency. Definitely a quality Dunkelweiss. DruncanVeasey (2710), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 30, 2007 Lightish muddy brown pour with an impressively rocky head of suds. Slightly woodsy snout with hints of toffee and banana. Buttery malt sweetness, toffee apple, banana and a pinch of clovey pepper in the finish. Faintly smoky as it warms. Quality Dunkel. obguthr (1008), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 26, 2007 Aroma is spicy, sour, and grainy. It pours a cloudy brown. My son says it looked like diarrhea. Thick pale head and light lacing. Taste is sour with vanilla notes. There was a biting aftertaste that was akin to radishes, but with some decently balanced hops. I expected much more. BillKismet (1903), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2007 Rather highly carbonated and of a hazy cider appearance. Zest wheat aroma and pleasant, but subdued yeasty notes with lightly playing sweet banana and musk. Medium-bodied with easy meld of wheat clove flavors that is quite enjoyabl.e Balance is decidedly tipped in favor of the phenolics (cloviness) rather than banana. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2007 Pours a dark opaque brown with a off white head. Has nice lacing. Has hints of roasted malts, caramel, spices, citrus fruit. Finishes with a nice malt and spice flavor that sticks to the tongue. jdhunt76 (56), Winter Springs, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2007 Bottle. Pour is an occluded wood brown with hints of dark orange around the edges, with an almost white head. Good balance of the hearty grain flavors of wheat and dark malts. Reminds me of autumn trips to the farmers’ market. Excellent dunkelweiss - which I would expect from Franziskaner. punkrkr27 (614), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2007 Hazy brown pour with a tall rocky head. Fruity, wheat, banana, yeast aroma. Wheat and sweet malt body with a nice dry banana finish. Medium-full body, very creamy. Would make for a nice slightly heartier version of a hefe for the summer.
