theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jul 23, 2009 .5L bottle enjoyed with a Lentil buger at Blanc Burgers + Bottles in Leawood, Kansas. Pour is hazed/cloudy brown orange ruby. Nice one inch tan head. Banana sweetness and caramel are on the nose initially, followed by wheat and some dusty grass. Taste is soft wheat, banana, sweet caramel and slightly citrus tangerines. Slight bit of roast in the back. As it went along, sweetness subsided some, and became more pleasant. near the finish, it turns to dusty straw hay. Palate is medium, slickly mouth coasting with a nice level of carbonation - drinkable. dalek123 (103), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 19, 2009 Pours cloudy brown with an offwhite fizzy head. Nose is wheat. Taste is spicy and sweet, with notes of cinnamon and caramel. A nice dunkelweizen. ben4321 (953), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 14, 2009 Overall Impression:
This is a really tasty Dunkelweizen, for a really solid German brewery. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 14, 2009 Pours a brown, cola color body and a finely carbonated, little legs, off-white head. Smells of toast, yeast, and dark sugar. Flavor is yeast and dark sugar. OleR (2008), Oslo, Norway Jul 13, 2009 0.5 L bottle from Systembolaget. A firm offwhite head upon a dark reddish-brown, translucent body. Soft, light nutty malt aroma. Some yeast tones and touch of candy-sugar. Taste is quite mellow; wheaty, and medium sweet. Faint caramel and touch of dark fruits. Softly carbonated and light-bodied. Short wheaty finish. Too soft maybe, lacks some attitude. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 10, 2009 Dark brown-orange with a creamy off white head. Taste is lightly spicy, burnt sugar, caramel, a hint of clove. Taste is caramel, citrus, burnt sugar, light clove. hayduke (1619), Eureka, California, USA Jul 9, 2009 I am not sure how this rating got deleted, but I originally rated this about three years ago after a trip to germany. Bought this in a store. From the 500 mil bottle it poured a hazy amber to brown color with a light tan head and big lacing. Nose of oranges and cloves. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is malts and some banana. Good beer and easy drinking. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 8, 2009 Sampled on draft at Johnny’s Wife’s Place in Jeannette PA this beer poured murky dark orange-brown color with a small beige head. The aroma was moderately strong banana and clove. The flavor was bitter, tangy, bready and malty with notes of orange, pepper, cardboard and nutmeg underneath. The finish was long, dryish, spicy, bready and had a touch of clove. Nice.
