Commercial Description:
Deep and dark colored, cloudy with yeast. Brewed with a darker roasted malt which adds some maltiness to the refreshing flavour of the Hefe-Weissbier.

$2.10 for a bottle of this... it’s a steal... I enjoy this one out of the bottle in the summer, and I’m enjoying it now on the coldest day of year. The carbonation is high and the brown surgar and alcohol flavors dominate. yummy

A nice smooth, dark, rich weissbier. The color was a deep rich brown. The flavors were nice, with the tanginess expected from weissbier. The mouthfeel, especially, was pretty much perfect--thick and creamy without lingering too much.

This bee pours a deep cloudy brown with a tall tan head leaving good lacing down th sides. On the nose this is a strong spicy wheat aroma like most of the dunkelweizens. The flavor emulates this, it is very rich smooth and good. I like this beer, it is very drinkable. Not very complex, but drinkable. Cheers!

Pours a cloudy dark brown, with a thick two finger head. The head settles slowly to a thick cap, leaving behind a thick sheet of lace. Smell; this has a very strong wheat profile, with some mild banana notes. There’s a sweet caramel malt presence that kind of overrides alot of the smells I usually associate with a hefe-weizen. Taste; the caramel malts are there but not quite as dominant as they are in the aroma. The yeast and wheat flavors come out as well as the typical cloves you would expect, but it’s a little lacking as far as any banana flavors go. Don’t get me wrong, the bananas are there, they’re just weak enough that you have to search for them a bit. Mouthfeel is creamy and medium bodied, and would be easy to put down a few of these.

(draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Cloudy brown pour with a mound of tan head. Aroma is lots of wheat with some roasted malts. Flavor is very sweet and smooth at the beginning with the obligatory wheat and grainy texture in the middle. Very clean finish.

Goood sweet notes, plenty of wheat taste to drink down, I was brewing a dunkle so I made it my offering to the beer gods. Good dunkle though pretty tasty nice color and sediment.

Ah yes, the Mad Monk. The first Hefeweizen I tried and indeed the first "good" beer I’d ever had. I was tremendously impressed by this the first time I had it, but have had better Dunkels since then. Not bad and available almost everywhere.

Pours amber with a big white head. Smells of roasted caramel with a hint of yeasty hay smell. Taste is almost entirely malt but not that complex or intense. The wheaty taste comes in in the aftertaste and is nice. I enjoyed this beer a good deal.
