themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA Nov 15, 2006 What I would expect from a dark hefeweizen. Follows through with solid taste all around. Medium-heavy body. It is refreshing with slight roastiness. Rather decent. voota (761), Melbourne, Australia Nov 15, 2006 Dark brown with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of shiraz grapes, yeast, banana and sweet caramel. Overcarbonated, but otherwise quite smooth in the mouth... flavours are malt driven, with some spicy hop and brown bread syrup. Medium/long dry, almost sour finish. almopina (87), Madrid, Spain Nov 15, 2006 Cloudy brown colour with a dense caffe latte head and great retention. Aroma of yeasts mainly, although some notes of roasted malt and banana are well perceived (specially in the beginning). Medium bodied with a smooth palate. Well balanced flavour of wheat roasted malt, caramel, banana and some notes of chocolate. Some watery finish. Easy drinking. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Nov 14, 2006 I was walking down the grocery store aisle and i looked over at this two dollar bottle, wow, very very good for two dollars, nice head , but i wouldn’t pay more for it, well, if it was on tap then thats a different story! slhaas (2), Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, USA does not count Nov 8, 2006 This is a great beer with a true Bavarian Hefeweizen style. Great flavor and very rich! tplindler (37), California, USA Nov 3, 2006 Excellent color, thick head. Smooth taste with a hint of malt. Definitely would drink again. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2006 Bottle. Poured with lots of carbonation and looked murky brown with fluffy off white head. Aroma of sweet wheated malts and citrus-lemon. Pretty even flavor right out of the shoot. Not as sweet as I remember. Taste has light malts, wheat, sweet fruit and some lemon. highlandlad (1258), Sydney, Australia Nov 1, 2006 Quality German dunkelweizen. For once I had exactly the right glassware because the nice bloke at Camperdown Cellars chucked in a free Franziskaner half-litre stein when he realised I was serious about beer. This presented beautifully: muddy brown with a lavish caffe latte head and great retention. Lots of yeast in the aroma, plus cocoa powder and some hefe bubblegum and banana. Medium bodied at the front of the mouth but slimming in the swallow. Generally smooth but perhaps a bit spritzy for the style. Very quenching. Restrained flavour mix with wheat malt dominating. There’s chocolate and banana, followed by pepper and very pronounced clove finish. Very easy drinking and very sessionable, I’d wager. (500ml bottle from Camperdown Cellars, Darlinghurst. Best before Feb 07)
