Commercial Description:
Deep and dark colored, cloudy with yeast. Brewed with a darker roasted malt which adds some maltiness to the refreshing flavour of the Hefe-Weissbier.

Another fine one by Franziskaner, even if a Spaten product. This one poured a nice brown color with some cloudiness. The aroma was of light roasted bananas. Some cloves, but underplayed. Caramel malts came through in the flavor, moreso than in the non dunkel versions. Definite roasted character vs. the non dunkel. Not as dry as other dunkelweizens. A good beer.

A favorite.Imagine a banana spiked with cloves and baked until it comes out some klind of artisan, wheat bread. Surprising and please, especially in it looks and quixotic aroma. A workingmans beer with a cashmere mouthfeel.

Had fresh in Germany, nice clove, banana. Abit on the sweet side, very refreshing with my asian food, I’m really liking Dunkelweizens!

Botlle, Light brown hazy colour, with a nice creamy foam. In this beer I got a hoopy gren colour blade in the glass.(nice)Aroma of a sweet malty nose and acitric(hoops) balance ending. Lots of sweet maltyness, with a touch of cocoa and coffee. With a typical weissber ending in citrus and light banana in the end.. Palate is og medium sweetnes and a nice bitter/citric finish, and a medium body. Nice, but could be a bit stronger alchol in it, then it have a boigger body and finish. That´s my upinion. Nice beer.

(0.5L Bottle) Pours a cloudy dark brown with a tan head. Banana aroma and flavor is there, but not as much as the Original. A bit smoky, and goes good with food. Rich mouthfeel too.

Bottle. A very cloudy dark pour with generous head that can foam over. The smell is nothing overpowering but not too mild. Sweet malt characters. The flavor is very malty with a little hop presence. Not bad flavor and goes down smooth.

A very strong and intense clove aroma is evident, followed by very fruity banana smell. This misture gives it a pleasent overall first impression. The color can be described as a deep copper brown, with a very thick, bubbly off white long lasting head. The clarity is sligthly hazy and cloudy. Flavor of banana and cloves is strong, but good. High carbondation with no bitter aftertaste. Goes down very smoothly, a very filling rich beer. This will be a beer I will drink more ofton and will have my friends try.

I guess im not into dunkels.. it has a beautiful apperace, with a light brown pour and a huge frothy head. The problem for me is its halfway taste. It has a nice hefe backbone with some spices, banana and bread but that does not pair well with an artificial and light chocolat and roasted foreground. Its also a bit oily and simple. A smokey lemon and bland finish does not help this one either.
