The banana and malt flavor is disappointingly weak and the finish very watery. Too weak in flavor so a underaverage Wheat! aracauna (2427), Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2002 Nice head that lasted all the way through to the end. The permanent part was even a bit large for beers who do keep permanent heads. Full brown cloudy body was nice but not spectacular. Nose is slight esters with good wheaty aroma. Reminded me vaguely of brownies, but less chocolatey. Ester taste is present but a bit subdued. Nice maltiness. Would probably have rated this higher if I had tried it before having Schneider Aventinus in bottle and on tap. BrewDad (2418), Olympia, Washington, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2002 murky dark; bigh head. good carbonation. Tart, tangy, fruity. Thinner, considering the darker color. Some cocoa powder maltiness. good stuff. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Another fine one by Franziskaner, even if a Spaten product. This one poured a nice brown color with some cloudiness. The aroma was of light roasted bananas. Some cloves, but underplayed. Caramel malts came through in the flavor, moreso than in the non dunkel versions. Definite roasted character vs. the non dunkel. Not as dry as other dunkelweizens. A good beer. Aroma and flavor of banana. With a hint of caramel/malt sweetness wich balances the high carbonation Hansen (2357), Randers, Denmark
