COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep and dark colored, cloudy with yeast. Brewed with a darker roasted malt which adds some maltiness to the refreshing flavour of the Hefe-Weissbier.

May 29th, 2011 - That cheeky monk goes wherever good beer goes. He’s kind, affable, and accessible, even for the poorest beer drinker like me. There’s no reason not to pick up a whole line of the Franziskaner beers, then, and give yourself a week to take in a little German culture and art. I started my horizontal tasting with the Hefe-weissbier Dunkel, appealingly dark, but certain to have a refined elegance reserved for lighter beers. and lagers. It pours with a somewhat thick light brown head, and the body glows with a deep and dark-orange red color, like a dying ember. I can’t catch much aroma through the foam, so I dig a shaft through the bubbles and take a sip. It begins with a light core of chocolate, accented with clove and brown sugar, resembling a pumpkin beer without the vegetal notes. The body is medium, the flavor is good, clear and clean, and sports a lot of straightforward, no-nonsense palate pleasing that would go tremendously well with chicken or pork dishes. Why don’t I buy these beers more often?

Bottle poured into a tall weissbier glass. Eyes closed, this shouldn’t taste like a pale weissbier, and it doesn’t quite. The dark grains add a very light touch. But it’s supposed to be subtle. Some banana. Maybe it wasn’t it’s freshest.

"a textbook example of the style, though not my favorite style. Within the styles limits, though, it can’t get much better than this. good balance in the nose and flavor between fruity/yeasty notes (and later slight spice) and the wheat and hops, which come out just enough in the finish. pours a deep brown with off white-tan head that lasts. good beer."

0.5l bottle served in my Weihenstephaner Weizen glass. Enjoyed in Servièse - Switzerland, it’s Christmas time! A: Pors a dark beige nutty color. Hazy. Forms a small beige head with low retention and practically no lacings left. However, a very thin layer remains for long S: Bananas and cloves in upfront, followed by the sweet malts, honey, wheat and bready yeasts. Quite a good perfume T: Taste is less impressive than the smell. Again, the banana-cloves combination in upfront. A bit bubblegum too. Strong notes of caramel malts and wheat. In overall, smooth and dry in the mouth, and quite bready. Very low bitterness. German Weissbier style M: Light smooth body. Medium carbonation. Bready grainy and slightly sweet aftertaste O: Good drinkability. Easydrinking. Not as good as the Hefe-Weizen version but still a nice and pleasant German "to the bone" beer [ BA Review @ 2/10/2010 ]

Cor ambar, transparente, de espuma bege e persistente. Aroma de trigo torrado e malte. Sabor leve, torrado e um pouco adocicado.

Poured from bottle to glass. Amber hue with wite head that lingered. Aroma is clove, banana, straw, yeast. Mouthfeel is nice with medium light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness followed by a slight sulphur finish. Overall this is a decent brew.

Bottle 0.5l. Cloudy brownish with medium off-white head. Yeasty aroma, sweet banana, date honey, malty. Sweetish banana flavor, yeasty, light bitterness. Smooth texture, medium carbonation, light to medium body. Sweetish aftertaste. Very good.

Significant Spicy coriander wheat aroma with some dark fruitiness. Delicious aroma. Very subtly reddish brown with a fast dissipating but active head. Flavour is rich, spiced fruity, with a clear mouthfeel and a slight metallic flavour. Not quite as full s the aroma suggested might be but still got some nice stuff going on. A ’Cola’ of the beer world!

Amber-brown near-clear body with some red tones, light tan creamy and bumby head, not much lacings. Aroma; caramel malts, cocoa, milk, floral hops, dust and grass. Taste; caramel malts, grassy hops, cocoa milk, ripe banana. Nice and clean on palate. Milky finish with notes of cocoa and caramel. Sweet, clean-feeling and nice after dinner, or with fruit dish. Good looking beer that is too low on flavor and too heavily carbonated to be really pleasant.
