rodgar (14), Mexico City, Mexico Jan 1, 2004 Now, this is beer! Germans should be proud for their skill in brewing one of the best beers in the whole world! Franziskaner is made out of wheat and thus is the cloudy consistency and unique flavor of this original beer. The Dunkel or Dark version is particular good. Much foamy and much clouder than the regular Franziskaner Weissbier. slhaas (2), Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, USA does not count Nov 8, 2006 This is a great beer with a true Bavarian Hefeweizen style. Great flavor and very rich! regularfricks (18), Michigan, USA Feb 29, 2008 Thanks to Salü in Wolfsburg, Germany! Cloudy deep amber coloring with a two fingers of head. Sweet, smooth, tasty. Easy on the palate. Easily has a taste of banana. In parts of Germany it is not uncommon for this beer to be drank with banana juice poured into it before being drank. Quite tasty. Nice spicy taste like the regular hefe, but has an additional malty, caramel flavor. Loved it. dins (267), Texas, USA Nov 25, 2001 Best of the dunkels in my book.
soulrefugee (46), Illinois, USA Jan 15, 2005 This one is a true weiss beer. Has a very pleasant rich flavor. Has a non-overwhelming sweetness. It is not thick, but it is very flavorful. I’ve tried other weiss beers, but this one does it best for me. I had it on tap once and its even better that way. HerrBier (12), Richardson, Texas, USA Apr 6, 2005 What’s not to love about this bier? It is incredibly smooth, has the flavor of a rich heffeweissbier, and is not too acidic or lemonady. Also, this is one of the few beers that I cannot pour with zero head which makes it a fun challenge. It’s pallate is a bit thin in some ways but that’s, I think, mostly because there is no one flavor dominating it - as I’ve said, it is smooth.
