Cloudy gold in appearance. Aroma bursted with banana but I didn’t pick up much clove. The flavor agreed with huge banana up front followed by a slightly sweet after taste. Was a touch watery on the palate. Overall an excellent effort true to style.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2008 [bottle - Great European Beerfest 8, Sharp Edge Tavern - East Liberty, PA] Pours a very rich gold color with a decent white head that left nice lacing. Very faint citrus aroma, mostly lemon and orange with a hint of yeast. Initial taste is a citrus zest with a yeast and wheat mixture making up the body and a sweet aftertaste.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2011 Overall a good hefeweizen - though a few still outshine it, you really can not go wrong with a Franzy. +++This time I sampled it from a 16.9 oz brown bottle. This beer poured a beautiful cloudy orange-golden color that whets the appetite with anticipation. The large white head has a slight orange tinge to it as well. There is a faint scent of orange peel. The scent is very pleasant but extremely faint. The flavor was very bready and yeasty. An orange peel flavor definitely shone through. A sweet yeasty aftertaste lingered.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2007 Nice cloudy gold. Large bubbly white head. Sparse lacing. Aromas of yeast and wheat. Some citrus. Banana and clove. Flavors are citrus (orange) and more banana. Peppery spices. Coriander maybe. Malts and wheat are abundant. There is subtle yeast hanging around there. The palate is crisp and refreshing, the body is nice and light and bubbly and it finishes with spice and fruits.

Bottle: Cloudy golden, heavy long lasting white head. Aroma is sweet with clear notes of yeast and it´s taste is also sweet, spicy with lemon traces. Refreshing, well balanced a good brew.

I really liked this hefeweizen. Poure a cloudy brownish orange, pretty carbonated for a hefe ... lots of tiny bubbles making their way from bottom to top. Head was medium sized, white and lasted a good while. Thick creamy lace all around the glass. Aroma is yeasty with hints of banana and wheat. Taste is very nice, all wheat, fruit and malt with a lightly sweet finish. Feels very silky in the mouth and you can detect the light sting of carbonation. All in all, a very good hefeweizen, in my estimation.

Bottle into Weizen glass. I’m not inclined to get weis beers, but it was this or Miller Lite, so I thought I’d try it out. Overall, I would say that it was inoffensive, but unimpressive. Even though I don’t usually like weis beers, I like them to try to be the best beers they can. This one was weak and watered down it seemed to me. The aroma was the best part, citrusy with some harsh hoppy biting accent. Orange and hazy in the glass, it had a sizeable white head with ok lacing. Initally, you taste the acidity but it’s not that smooth. Then, feeble and underdeveloped orange and lime flavors emerge and disappear quickly to be replaced by the wheaty aftertaste that wasn’t that strong. Still, better than Miller Lite.

Cloudy orange/gold and quite still. Aromas are sweet malts, candy, wheat, spices and banana. Flavours also have the banana and cloves along with some yeastiness and fruit. Has a nice dry finish. Sticks to the roof of the mouth - in a good way.

Bottle. I bought it at a supermarket. Deep straw colored. Not as complex as I expected but very smooth and easy to drink. Quite nice gentle aroma that I wished was more apparent. Great mouth feel and finish.
