Reviewed 3/6/13. This was probably the first beer I bought that I truly loved, so I’ve been meaning to revisit this one for a long time. 12 oz bottle into a weizen glass. A: Pours a darker amber color that seems both less hazy and fizzier-looking than others in the style. The head is a beautiful five-finger pale cream color. It has one of the softest-looking textures I’ve ever witnessed in ANY beer head, and retains itself reasonably. S: This one is relatively clove-forward, with the general malts being the secondary aromatic feature. It seems like this one comes off ’drier’ than most. T: Differing from the nose, the flavor itself is quite banana-forward to start. The banana esters will fade to a midtaste/finish of lactic cream, wheat, and cloves. No real depth here, just a solid no-frills hefeweizen. M: I wondered if the feel would be dry due to the lack of a sweet nose - and I was wrong. This is a creamy, semi-sweet weizen, and pulls it off well. The thickness of the texture conceals the high carbonation somewhat, but as the carbonation fades, it seemingly becomes dry - very nearly to the point of being watery. On the plus side, it becomes more drinkable this way. O: I don’t know if this is quite the beer I fell in love with...ah well, it’s still good stuff. And it’s available practically everywhere to boot.

De las cervezas de trigo alemanas más conocidas aquí en España. Me encanta su sabor, de mis favoritas. Muy recomendable.

A favourite Hefeweizen of mine. 500ml bottle. Cloudy golden orangey colour with a thick white head. Wheaty malts with a lovely fruity and spicy aroma and taste, with some banana too.

Bottle courtesy of David. Poured a cloudy pale orange colour with a big off white head. Aroma of banana, orange, and yeast, with floral notes. Medium sweetness, light to medium bitterness, average carbonation, medium body with a creamy texture. Enyoyed this.

Though summer is slipping away, it’s never too late to drink a German Hefeweizen. Never. Franziskaner pours cloudy gold/yellow with a whole lot of suds. Aroma is fruity, yeasty, and sweet with a hint of spice. Flavor has banana, cream, bready wheat, clove, yeast, and honey. Mouthfeel is refreshing and light without being thin. Visible carbonation is lovely but it’s absolutely smooth on the palate. Now if only I had another one of these.

Bottle. Amber golden color, slightly hazy, nice, fine white foamy head. Nose is full of cloves and banana, spicy. Taste is very well balanced sweetness, mildly bitter and a hint sour. Very fresh carbonation, with a pleasant medium texture. Malt and bananas in the aftertaste.

Franziskaner has a good mellow taste of fresh grain, banana notes and coriander.
