Reviewed 3/6/13. This was probably the first beer I bought that I truly loved, so I’ve been meaning to revisit this one for a long time. 12 oz bottle into a weizen glass. A: Pours a darker amber color that seems both less hazy and fizzier-looking than others in the style. The head is a beautiful five-finger pale cream color. It has one of the softest-looking textures I’ve ever witnessed in ANY beer head, and retains itself reasonably. S: This one is relatively clove-forward, with the general malts being the secondary aromatic feature. It seems like this one comes off ’drier’ than most. T: Differing from the nose, the flavor itself is quite banana-forward to start. The banana esters will fade to a midtaste/finish of lactic cream, wheat, and cloves. No real depth here, just a solid no-frills hefeweizen. M: I wondered if the feel would be dry due to the lack of a sweet nose - and I was wrong. This is a creamy, semi-sweet weizen, and pulls it off well. The thickness of the texture conceals the high carbonation somewhat, but as the carbonation fades, it seemingly becomes dry - very nearly to the point of being watery. On the plus side, it becomes more drinkable this way. O: I don’t know if this is quite the beer I fell in love with...ah well, it’s still good stuff. And it’s available practically everywhere to boot.

Bottle from Jumbo. Hazy gold pour with pure white head. Aroma is pretty typical hefeweizen, nice banana clove aroma, slightly grainy, bready wheaty notes. Taste is lightly sweet, grainy, light spicy finish. Palate is light and fluffy, nice creamy carbonation. Not a super standout in terms of originality, but it is quite easy drinking.

Had a pint on tap at German Park in Ann Arbor. Wow, for some reason I hadn’t been expecting much from this, but it’s right up there with Weihenstephaner for my favorite hef now.

Bottle 50cl. Little shady golden beer with a white head. Aroma is full; with a bit of sourness. Taste is beautiful, like weizenbier should be. It also has the sourness in the aftertaste.

From a bottle. Pours hazy orange gold with a fizzy white head. Smell and taste has a ton of banana. Tastes like fruity doughy malt, dry raisin, corn. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet musky fruits and corn.

Light brown cloudy color with thick head. Aroma consists of yeast, wheat malt, banana and sweet fruits. First a bit sour taste is balanced with malty sweet aftertaste. It has also some banana, citrus, toffee and herbs. Excellent summer wheat beer.

A melhor weissbier que já tomei. Muitos falam da Stephaner, mas para meu paladar, esta é mais saborosa e refrescante, inigualável!

The bloom abounds over a foggy haze of wheat fields with apricot and lemon in the distance.
