Reviewed 3/6/13. This was probably the first beer I bought that I truly loved, so I’ve been meaning to revisit this one for a long time. 12 oz bottle into a weizen glass. A: Pours a darker amber color that seems both less hazy and fizzier-looking than others in the style. The head is a beautiful five-finger pale cream color. It has one of the softest-looking textures I’ve ever witnessed in ANY beer head, and retains itself reasonably. S: This one is relatively clove-forward, with the general malts being the secondary aromatic feature. It seems like this one comes off ’drier’ than most. T: Differing from the nose, the flavor itself is quite banana-forward to start. The banana esters will fade to a midtaste/finish of lactic cream, wheat, and cloves. No real depth here, just a solid no-frills hefeweizen. M: I wondered if the feel would be dry due to the lack of a sweet nose - and I was wrong. This is a creamy, semi-sweet weizen, and pulls it off well. The thickness of the texture conceals the high carbonation somewhat, but as the carbonation fades, it seemingly becomes dry - very nearly to the point of being watery. On the plus side, it becomes more drinkable this way. O: I don’t know if this is quite the beer I fell in love with...ah well, it’s still good stuff. And it’s available practically everywhere to boot.

As close to perfect as a Hefeweizen that I have ever had, but I still hope for better.

From bottle at Hotel Residence Sandes with KL 17.04.15. Hazy straw colour. Large, dense and persistent off-white head and lacing. Fine aroma of green bananas, lime, coriander and freshly mowed grass. Similar taste. Perhaps a bit waterish mouthfeel. Good drinkability!

Sieht schön aus. Extrem viel Hefe sowohl im Aroma wie auch im Gout. Daneben ein kurliges Mundgefühl. Mag ich gar nicht. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Highly drinkable and nothing wrong with it but I just don’t see anything interesting in this kind of beers.

Pint 9 bottle shared. Pours a medium yellow to orange color slightly hazy with a white head. Nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is wheat, malt and bananas and some spice. The flavor is more of the same. Nice and rich, medium malt with banana notes followed by the wheat and the spice notes . Excellent example of the style.

Pours slightly hazy dark golden/orange with a small white head. Aroma is quite common Hefeweizen. Aroma of banana, wheat, yeast, some spices... Bit estery. Taste is malty and sweet with some bready, slightly spicy (cloves), mildly wheaty and some slight fruity tones. Tasty banana//vanillaish aftertaste as well. The palate is however a bit disappointing. Although Hefeweizens are often a bit thinnish, this one is a bit too watery for me. I would love to have had it a bit thicker and somewhat stickier in texture, since it would fit better with its full body. It is certainly good on sunny days like this, but it falls short by the Weihenstephaner for example.

Benchmark golden hefe with lustrous golden body under a rocky white head with a certain amount of haze. Scents of classic banana and cloves with stewed apricot and mellow spiciness. Filling, mellow and lush.

Golden colour with creamy white head. Aroma and flavours of bananas, yeasts, some spices. Very drinkable, but in comparison with other best weizen beers a little too watery in finish.
