3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed 3/6/13. This was probably the first beer I bought that I truly loved, so I’ve been meaning to revisit this one for a long time. 12 oz bottle into a weizen glass.
A: Pours a darker amber color that seems both less hazy and fizzier-looking than others in the style. The head is a beautiful five-finger pale cream color. It has one of the softest-looking textures I’ve ever witnessed in ANY beer head, and retains itself reasonably.
S: This one is relatively clove-forward, with the general malts being the secondary aromatic feature. It seems like this one comes off ’drier’ than most.
T: Differing from the nose, the flavor itself is quite banana-forward to start. The banana esters will fade to a midtaste/finish of lactic cream, wheat, and cloves. No real depth here, just a solid no-frills hefeweizen.
M: I wondered if the feel would be dry due to the lack of a sweet nose - and I was wrong. This is a creamy, semi-sweet weizen, and pulls it off well. The thickness of the texture conceals the high carbonation somewhat, but as the carbonation fades, it seemingly becomes dry - very nearly to the point of being watery. On the plus side, it becomes more drinkable this way.
O: I don’t know if this is quite the beer I fell in love with...ah well, it’s still good stuff. And it’s available practically everywhere to boot.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
For a main brewery, I can say that it is a good one. The colour is classical for this beer "yellow, dark and troubled". There is a nice touch of banana and the wheat is sweet. It is a good product.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pleasant banana bread-like aroma. Hazy yellow body with a splash of amber. Sweet tart banana bread like taste. The lemon citrus gives it a dry tart finish. Refreshing and delicious.

A slightly more bitter version of Hacker Pschorr, but it’s good. More bubblegum/banana/clove flavor would make it more interesting.

0.5 l bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Dark golden colour, almost orange, cloudy, big head. Banana aroma. Taste has banana and other spices (not real spices, just flavours from the yeast). Ending is a bit bitterish.

Bottle from Tesco, Gilesgate, Durham.
Murky light brown, kind of unappealing looking beer with a huge, fluffy, white head and moderate carbonation. The nose has the expected sweet wheat and banana esters but also less pleasant funky aromas like mouldy fruit or bad breath. The taste is much better though with awesome sweet banana and clove and hints of apples and pears, bready and creamy notes and even a hint of smoke. A syrupy flavour stays on the palate for a while, a little too long for my liking. The mouthfeel is thick, smooth and slick. All in all an enjoyable beer but a little too syrupy and sweet to absolutely suit my tastes.
