Sampled on tap at FoBAB 2011 (Chicago, IL). Pours a roasty brownish hue, gentle haze with lighter edges. A frothy light brown head dies to a thicker film, laces ok. Aromas are chocolate and sour cherries, touches of spice and dry funk, cocoa and vanilla, roast and touches of pepper strangely, oak. Initial is lighter bodied offering sour cherries, touches of spice, brett, and oak. Some cocoa and toffee come on, but thinned. Growing decent sour cherry, lactic acid, and some lemon. Really enjoyable with earthy cocoa, tobacco, and sour cherries, lactic acid. Lighter and earthy, doesn’t go into full blown sour mode. Finish is lingering ash and cocoa, roast and sour fruits, lactic acid, barrel flourishes.

Sampled from the tap at 2011 FOBAB. Poured clear deep amber brown with an light brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a good amount of artificial cherry with a nice matching chocolate note. Flavor was quite sour from a medicinal cherry note that clashed with the chocolate.
