Medium to high bitterness??? This beer wasn’t at all bitter. This brewery is great for beginners, their stuff is weak! Back to this beer...it’s almost as if the Red and the Amber are the same beer. RERATE: This beer has grown up since I last rated it. It now has some character, hops and sweet malt came together nicely to make a respectable beer.

Growler courtesy Fratto. This beer pours a clear orange color with a ring of white head. Aroma is minerals and slight chemical. The aroma is a bit off. Flavor is dry grains, moldy socks, old hops, and pissed off sunflower seeds. Yikes this was not good.

Growler from the brewpub. Lightish orange pour with a white head. Aroma smells pretty much like a fart. Maybe kinda spicy, but literally like a mild fart. Taste is very bitter, blackened toast, spicy, and just a little bit of citrus. Awkward finish.

Sampler at the joint- served a faded tan color, some lacing but not enough to start a flashmob over, aroma of musk and toasted rye- okey dokey. Hits the mouth with a firm medium body, malt has just a touch of sweetness but is still very pronounced by itself, middle holds up very well, finish has a toasted sensation to it. Or perhaps it was the horseradish that caused that... either way, the old lady claimed it as her own shortly there after. Dang her!!!

I sampled this beer at the brewery. Like most of their beers, this one was forgetable with not enough hop bitterness for me. Overall, this amber is below average and I would not order it again.

Tasted on July 18th 2009. Served at about 66 degrees, high malt charter with very little support from the hops.

Slightly bitter and sweet. Aroma is too subtle roasted malt; flavor is sweet, candied malt. Palate is surisingly thick.

EVerybody is dogging this beer. You guys are retarded. The malt profile on this bad boy is through the roof. The cascades pair nicely with the deep dark rich malt. Notes of worstershire, cloves and chocolate. Also some carrot...cascades. All in all I think that this was a very excellently handcrafted ale. Nicely malty excellenelty bitter. Not bad at all. G-rat

(3Jan2003--draft at brewery) Hmmm, kinda weak. Similar head and carbonation as the porter. Cascades hops dominate nose and palate, but there isn’t enough malt to balance the hops. Thin mouthfeel, thin beer in general.

Yeah, bro, it was lacking on bitterness. And it was definitely similar to the red ale, we mixed up the sample glasses and had these two side-by-side and could barely tell the difference. Only careful tasting could discern them; the amber is a little more bodied and a little more bitter. But somehow I have better memories of the red ale from the last time I visited. Interesting. One should also note that ’red ale’ and ’amber ale’ aren’t typically regarded as real brewing styles, they’re more like descriptions brought about by marketing guys, but I digress...
