Terminus (2617) - Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA - APR 7, 2012
tap at brewpub march 2012-pours almost black with a small kacki head. nose is roast, char and dark chocolate with some metallic qualities with some rasin qualities as well. flavors of roast, rasins and char-body suffers from being pretty lite, especially for this style. bold flavors, but not delieved very well do to the lack of body. a noble attept on the style yet still comes up short. Would be a decent beer to session if you were at this place to just pound a few back with friends.

Thanks to jjfoodie for sharing this growler. The beer pours a black color with a medium brown head. The aroma is roasted malt with some earthy and dirt notes. The flavor is roasted malt, dirt and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation. The beer appears to have some potential, but the dirt flavor and aroma just doesn’t do it for me.

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 5/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 15/20
ddelk (14) - McKinney, Texas, USA - MAR 6, 2009
On tap at their brewpub in Fredericksburg. This is their winter seasonal. Pours a very deep brown, almost black with a slight tan head. Aromas of fresh brewed coffee, sweet caramel, and a slight roasted almond smell. Flavor was much smoother than the ABV would indicate with a thick, oily mouthfeel. Coffee flavors are most prominent with undertones of malted chocolate and licorice. Not too shabby. An added bonus is that you can get a glass "to go" and roam the shops on main street.
