COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale is the first brewed in Kansas since pioneering days. The name "Ad Astra comes from the Kansas State Motto - Ad Astra per Aspera, Latin words meaning "To the Stars through Difficulties". We've blended Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts for a rich amber beer. The hops balance this malty sweetness, and we've chosen Northern brewer and Fuggles hops for their flavor.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2012 12oz bottle for this rating poured into a Chimay goblet glass. However, I have had his many times in my Kansas life. Bored at a party right now and decided to rate it. For what it is it’s good beer. A slightly sweeter and hoppy and roasty. Despite the roast I always considered this an English style beer and not an Altbier. Its drinkable, flavor, and not particular to any style if you ask me.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2013 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a nice two-finger white head. Aroma is caramel malts, hops, and yeast. Taste is almost porter like. It’s lightly sweet with malts and yeast with some bitterness at the end. Nice beer

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2012 Pours dark copper with good head and lacing. Smell is a nice blend of caramel, toffee, and a bit of roasty cocoa. Taste has some nice tangy malts and breadiness. Aftertaste is a bit of bitter hops that fade after a minute or two. Pleasantly surprised by this one - solid brew.

Bottle: Brownish copper pour with a finger of white head. Mostly malty with a light earthiness. Caramel, light florals, slighty earthy, and rather sweet overall. Not a bad little session brew.

12 oz bottle-Trade w/RobertDale-slightly cloudy copper pour w/almost no head. Malty aroma. Smooth easy drinking Altbier, some nice malt flavor, caramel, yeast, just a little hop bite on the finish. This beer didn’t look like much when I opened it, kind of a boring pour, but it turned out to be a smooth, easy drinking brew. Thanks Bob!
