COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale is the first brewed in Kansas since pioneering days. The name Ad Astra comes from the Kansas State Motto - Ad Astra per Aspera, Latin words meaning "To the Stars through Difficulties". We’ve blended Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts for a rich amber beer. Nugget and Fuggles hops balance out this malt forward brew.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2012 Pours dark copper with good head and lacing. Smell is a nice blend of caramel, toffee, and a bit of roasty cocoa. Taste has some nice tangy malts and breadiness. Aftertaste is a bit of bitter hops that fade after a minute or two. Pleasantly surprised by this one - solid brew.

Bottle: Brownish copper pour with a finger of white head. Mostly malty with a light earthiness. Caramel, light florals, slighty earthy, and rather sweet overall. Not a bad little session brew.

12 oz bottle-Trade w/RobertDale-slightly cloudy copper pour w/almost no head. Malty aroma. Smooth easy drinking Altbier, some nice malt flavor, caramel, yeast, just a little hop bite on the finish. This beer didn’t look like much when I opened it, kind of a boring pour, but it turned out to be a smooth, easy drinking brew. Thanks Bob!

Pours deep brown bronzish with a beige head. The aroma has roasty caramel malt, some bread, dryish brown sugar, light earthiness and an overall pleasantness. Medium body with light crispness, and somewhat mild sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with a dry version of the aroma traits with some mineral aspects and paperiness. The finish is more of the same. Nice beer, but it is a touch heavy on the mineral aspects for me.

Pours a dull brown with a creamy light tan head. Aroma is mostly toasty malt but also biscuit and light floral hops. Medium bodied and fairly creamy in the mouth with flavors of toffee, caramel, toast and grassy hops. It has a delightful nuttiness to the finish. I like It!!

At the brewery. Pours copper and clear with off-white head. The malt is very pronounced. Nice malt flavor as well, but it is thin mouthfeel with a watery consistency.
