COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale is the first brewed in Kansas since pioneering days. The name Ad Astra comes from the Kansas State Motto - Ad Astra per Aspera, Latin words meaning "To the Stars through Difficulties". We’ve blended Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts for a rich amber beer. Nugget and Fuggles hops balance out this malt forward brew.

Bottle from Dave in Overland Park- pours clear peach, brief white head that recedes quickly. Dark fruits, prunes, cooked vegetables, nutty toast hues on the nose. More fermented fruit, dates, grassy malts, herbal note in the taste. Solid richness, grain characteristics on the palate. medium finish. interesting interpretation.

Had to drive up to Kansas to pick some up, been wanting to try a Free State brew. Well, it was worth the drive. Pours a clear, rich amber, no head to really speak of. Very smooth, very tasty...will have to hit the brewery next time as it’s not that much farther of a drive.

Bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a medium sized off white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt and grassy, floral hops. Flavor is sweet malt with a fairly bitter hop kick. Some fruity notes. Finish is a bit odd: astringent, coffee, peanuts, slightly sour. Drinkable, balanced, complex alt. Rock Chalk.

Aroma is light and slightly nutty. No hops (floral or otherwise) evident on the nose. Mouthfeel is acceptable yet very light with a quick finish. Not the greatest beer around but light refreshing and drinkable.

Good ale. Not alot of extra flavors thrown in, but a good taste of hops. Will be in my normal rotation as long as I can keep getting it around town.
