This light, crisp lager was created specifically for the Radler but certainly shines on its own. A base of clean German Pils malt marries with the lemon, orange, and tropical fruit character of Citra and Simcoe hops, a choice meant to enhance the citrus qualities of the Blood Orange Radler. “Bleeding Kansas” is the term New York journalist Horace Greeley gave to the skirmishes and violent turmoil between anti-slavery Free-Staters and pro-slavery “Border Ruffian” elements. Tap @ Free State. Pours a hazy golden appearance with a white head and nice lacing. Light veggie, slightly grainy, a bit husky aroma. Light cauliflower, herbal grainy, fairly dry flavor. Bleh.

Tap at Free State. Clear golden pour, big white lace. Some creamed corn DMS intentional adjunct in body doesn’t distract too much. Heavy carbonation. Decent grassy hop balance. Moderate butter / diacetyl. Nose is nice citrus, diacetyl present but not so bad.

On tap at the brewpub. Comes a clear, bright reddish gold. Has a nice white head. Aroma of malt and citrus. Taste is lemons, malt, and a touch of tropical fruits. Excellent!!

10oz goblet at the brewpub. Tight small head atop a clear copper colored body. Generally, this is a very nice German style lager. Authentic German, clean slightly metallic character. The only thing taking away the German character is a present American hoppiness. Present slightly citrus and definitely non-noble hops throughout the aroma and flavor. A very nice blend of German lager and American hops without either playing a dominant role. Could definitely drink this often.
