Meaning “cyclist” in German, Radler is a traditional mix of lager and soda that has a reputation as a sports drink and restorative. This particular rendition marries our Bleeding Kansas Lager with a house made Blood Orange Soda. The resulting beer is a slightly tart, slightly sweet thirst quencher perfect for a summer day.

Pours a light golden with thin white head. Smells like a orange gatorade to me. Taste of lorange and citrus. Not terribly sweet in the finish actually. Very refreshing, probably couldn’t drink too much of this though

~3 oz sample at the Boulevardia Taps & Tastes in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is cloudy golden orange with a minimal white head. The aroma is citrus, and some tart lemon. The taste is mostly soda blood orange citrus, fruit sweet, muted tartness of the lemon shows some, and there is a small token amount of cracker malt under the citrus fruit. The palate is light to thin bodied, active carbonation and citrus in the finish. This was refreshing during a hot festival.

More than slightly tart, but it does the job during the hot as hell KS days. Light and fruity.

On tap at Free State. Pours a murky golden orange color with white head. Hmm... mostly orange soda flavored. Not my thing.

Tap @ Free State. Pours a cloudy peach appearance with a thin white head. Spritzy, lemon, a bit tart aroma. Tangy orange soda, lemon, slightly grainy flavor. Pass.

On tap at the brewpub. Comes a reddish gold with a minimal white head. Aroma of citrus and malt. Taste is oranges and sweet malt. Didn’t get any tartness at all. Just OK.

10oz draft at the brewpub. TOO SWEET. Looks pretty enough, and even smells nice enough for those that like citrus drinks. But I could not drink the thing. Its not too sweet for a beer, its too sweet for a soda. There really is not much beer to be found in it. Sounded tempting but was very disappointing.
