Tap @ Free State. Pours a bit hazy yellow appearance with a creamy, white head. Spicy, white wine, grape, pear, a bit dank aroma. Tangy, weedy, light ganja, dry peppery, lemon flavor. Unique and fun.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at GABF 2013. Nelson Sauvin nose of pineapple / tutti-frutti / bubble gum, with some light mint / herb / spice notes. Fizzy carbonation, medium body, highly bitter, lightly sweet. There’s pretty much no Belgian yeast resemblance here, the nose is one-dimensional Nelson expression, hop oils are juicy and the body seems lean enough to work in a session pale ale way, and honestly the crisp, clean body resembles some of the Jack’s Abby new world-hopped lagers. It’s a delicious though simple hoppy pale, but I wouldn’t call it saison.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear gold with a slight amber hue and a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces nicely. Aroma had some light fruits and flora with some yeast esters and some backing sweet grains. Flavor began with light flora and finished with a bit of banana and sweet grains.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a lightly hazy golden with a large foamy white head that laced. Aroma of spicy and fruity saison yeast, white grapes, black pepper and wheat. Flavor of bready malt, white wine, peppery saison yeast character and some tropical fruits. Nice and dry. Easy drinking. Glad I have this on tap at home to enjoy this spring! Nice tartness that finishes out the flavor profile.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tulip glass pour from a Growler that csbosox brought over (filled about two hours previous). Pour is pale yellow golden, mostly clear with a white head, that falls with some soapy lacing. Aroma is fresh grass, lemon, grapefruit - all quite fresh, and along with a mildly spiced yeast. Clean and unique nose. Taste is a really nice balance between the grapefruit and general fruit sweetness and the resin grassiness. Yeast dries out and carries the finish. Palate is light bodied, with soft natural carbonation. Crisp dry finish. Crazy drinkable stuff, thanks a ton for sharing the jug Chris.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is an okay saison. Not perfect. Golden, bright, with some hay like aromas. A bit of metallic off flavors.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
It poured a cloudy golden color with a white head. The aroma was fruity with some hop and herbal notes. The taste was light fruits and hops. A decent Saison.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2011 Live rate at the brewpub: 10oz skinny tulip. Small tight head atop a clear straw golden colored ale. Head fades into a sticky lacing. Aroma hits my nose with strong melon and and acidic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wine (to the extreme). I could smell this all day. Five years since i first tried Nelson Sauvin hops and they are still incredibly original. Fresh acidic melon and grape-like hops. Flavor is similar hop centric. Spicy finish which i think is all hops but that maybe some spicy yeast. If that is yeast then its the only contribution from the yeast. Its a great hop forward beer with a cool hop but its not a Saison. I would be pushed over the top with a yeast, malt, and hop balance equaling a Saison but currently its a hop centric beer only. Bitterness at the back of the throat lingers around. Hell of a hop though but i can see it getting tired. Even a little milkiness to the hop in the flavor. An explosion on my senses.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Fruity, hoppy, very lightly grainy aroma, citric and lightly estery with plenty of Nelson Sauvin character, lightly woody, leafy, herbal and winey. Crystal clear pale yellow color, very Pils-like, head is comprised of lasting white sticky foam. Flavor is gently sweet and estery as well, with a moderate dosage of estery, spicy, Belgian-style yeast, pale malt grains, and very evident herbal, white grape flavors again courtesy of the unique hop used here, along with a fairly light bitterness. Simple but very nicely crafted, really allowing the basic ingredients to shine through, one would say it is the opposite of muddled. Semi-dry, light and airy on the palate with plenty of active carbonation, body is light-medium. Really nice.
