COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION The appropriately named Saison style originates from Wallonia, the French speaking region of Belgium. Meaning "season" in French, Saisons were once brewed in the autumn in farmhouses to be set aside to refresh farm workers during harvest season the following year. Today, Saisons are brewed year-round and given to a broad range of interpretations. Our latest interpretation pays homage to the style’s farmhouse origins with wishes of an exceptional harvest. A "bumper" in the 17th century was the name for a large glass of beer or wine filled to the brim, hence the term "bumper crop" being an indicator of a particularly bountiful harvest. Our Bumper Crop Saison comes from a blend of three malts and is hopped with lemony Simcoe hops. This spicy version of Saison is the result not only of the spicy Belgian yeast, but a substantial spice addition as well. Tart rose hips (the fruit of the rose plant), citrusy lemon peel, and slightly warming Tellicherry black pepper contribute to the overall spicy character, resulting in a complex amalgam of cloves, tropical fruit, lemon, black pepper, and, appropriate to the style’s origins, hay. The resulting beer is at once perplexing and refreshing in spite of its relative heft. O.G. - 15.0ºP/1.060 Hops - 12 IBUs
