COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The latest evolution in beer styles has come from the West Coast where they don't believe that there is such a thing as 'too much hops'! The style is Imperial IPA and ours features 3 very potent American hop varieties, Columbus, Chinook and Cascade - hence the name C3. Hops are added at just about every stage of the process from the mash all the way through to a very generous 'dry hop'. This beer needs a lot of strength to support all those hops so note the high Original Gravity. O.G. - 19.85P/1082. Hops - 95 IBUs. (theoretical)

Draft, at csbosox KC tasting 4/14. Thanks for putting this one on Chris! Pour is cloudy reddish orange. Smallish white head, aroma is big, very wet hops. Taste is same big wet hop, and nice. I thought the taste may have a hung around a bit too long, but for big hop heads, this would be a plus.

Fresh growler from FS, pours a very cloudy orange color with a decent white head that dissipates down to a whispy covering, good lacing. Strong and inviting aroma of hops, hops and more hops; orange/tangerine, floral, pine, grass, and even some mild malty caramel coming through. Has a great fresh, wet hops taste, bitter and biting on the palate with a covering yet slick mouthfeel, gentle carbonation and a lasting bitter dry hop finish. Another great one from FS; highly recommended!

GTM ’06 Draught. Very nice aroma but there’s something about the hop combination that wasn’t quite ideal. Perhaps it’s wet hop. Murky, reddish orange. Off-white head, somewhat lasting. Beautiful color. Raw, fresh, wet hop flavor...very nice. Restores my faith in the Free State Brewery.

GABF 2006. Big ole’ west coast hop aroma. Hazy pale yellow. Taste is vegetal, earthy hops. Very restrained, not overly bitter. Nice balance against some soft, sweet malts. Medium bodied. Solid.

Draft... GABF ’06... Cloudy, light golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Earthy aroma with notes of leather and tree bark; hints of pine and smoke. The flavor is heavily bitter and a just a little tangy. No residual sweetness. Medium-bodied and very astringent with moderate carbonation. Lengthy, heavily bitter finish.

GABF ’06: Lovely hop nose didn’t tease, as the rich hop flavors and wafty aromas carried through the first sip. Juicy, citrusy (tangerine and some grapefruit), sprucy and sour. Nice texture throughout. Chew-smooth malts balanced everything out well. Tasty stuff.

GABF 2006. Top 5 IIPA @ the fest. The Californian way of brewing these beers has gotten to Kansas. Wish it would finalyy reach the South. Everything you want in a IIPA.

GABF 2006. The beer pours to a hazy caramel colored body with a creamy white head. The aroma is hugely hoppy with lots of fresh, raw, chinook and cascade. The flavor is hugely toasty, nice sweet maltiness, the hops are apparent, but not the main part of the taste. Smooth light resiny mouthfeel.
