COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This flavorful beer is made in the style of the India Pale Ale Style originally manufactured in Great Britain for their colonies in India, but with an American twist. The harsh travel that the beer had to survive required a strong, hoppy beer. The Hops and the high level of alcohol helped buffer the beer through its long travels. Made with flavorful and full bodied Pale Ale malt combined with a touch of caravienne for color and carapils for body, the rich flavor of this beer is matched and enhanced by a very generous portion of Centennial and Cascade hops. The Cascades give this beer its distinctive floral aroma and a uniquely American character.

12oz bottle served in a Sam Adams perfect pint A - Hazy copper/amber color with a small white head that leaves quickly. S - Bready caramel, slightly toasted, multi grain cracker. T - Deep caramel malt, very bready, toasted biscuits, leafy bitterness, hints of tart fruit, some tea-like bitterness sneaks in with hints of sharp lemon citrus on the finish. M - Heavy side of medium body, medium carbonation, foamy but smooth feel. (I reviewed this as an APA) This beer plays more to the malts than the hops. Nice malty depth with simple hop biterness. Some fruit mixed in with some citrus and tannins on the finish. Good stuff here. Very balanced but I would consider this a American Pale Ale rather than an IPA. Serving type: bottle 03-23-2013

Boutip (4726) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 19, 2013
Bottle: Poured a copper color ale with a medium size head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of light citrus notes with dry caramel malt notes. Taste is also dominated by dry caramel notes with some light citrus undertones. Body is about average with good carbonation. Easily quaffable thought hops profile is bit more subdued then I had expected.

From bottle. Pours a nice copper with slight head and lacing. Malty nose. A bit creamy with a lot of biscuit malt up front. Finish is much cleaner with a mildly hoppy twist. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours clear copper with a medium beige creamy head and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel, hay and pine. Flavor is the same, light sweet, light bitter. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Drinks like a hoppy amber or red IPA, nothing special here.

Bottle from unclemike. Pours light amber with a small cream colored head that leaves a small trail of lacing. Nose of toast and grapefruit. Taste has some bitterness, imo a bit weak per style. Grapefruit and pine on the finish. Body is light to medium. This is right on the line between apa and ipa.

Pours clear, light amber colored with big white head. Leaves some nice lacing. It has a nice fruity aroma with grapefruit most noticeable. Taste was similarly fruity with grapefruit and some sweeter fruit flavors (almost like peach). It has a pretty strong (pleasant) bitterness. The mouth feel is kind of thin but with lively carbonation.

Poured from bottle into snifter, not much head or aroma whatsoever and is a clear deep red/orange...darker than I was expecting. The taste is like a medium hopped bread, very smooth and chuggable (I think the proper term is sessionable, but let’s call it what it is). Quite a big boy for a pale, not quite big enough for an IPA...I like this. A lot.
