While walking through a field and enjoying a lazy summer evening, our head brewer Steve stepped on a stick that popped up and nicked his leg. Or so he thought, until he found two puncture marks on his ankle. The copperhead bite may have caused a trip to the hospital for Steve, but it also provided just the inspiration he and Chuck needed to name their new beer – yep, one lowly snake in the grass is the namesake of one of our most popular beers.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a copper color with white head. Nice balanced, caramel, hoppy flavors. Alright pale ale.

This poured an amber color with an off white head. Aroma was grassy and floral hops with light grain and toast behind. Flavor was similar, lightly bitter, but caramel sweetness overpowers the hops taste. Meh.

12oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Shaker at 40°. Color is a slightly hazy golden amber with good carbonation and a small off white head. Aroma of toffee and hops. It has a medium body with a smooth moth feel. Flavor is toasted malt, caramel, a hint of pine and biscuit then a light citrus note shows. In the after taste the citrus comes out more with some bitterness leaving it with a dry feel. Overall its a tasty well balanced IPA.

Hops and apple with a distinct grassy taste. Fairly bitter. Not my favorite style but was not impressed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Doughy and caramel aroma; a little fruity. Caramel and bread malt flavors. Harsh bitter aftertaste.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The aroma is roasted malts, some woody hop notes, a little citrus. The flavor is bready/toasty malts, pine, spicy. The bitterness is harsh and gives any astringent perception.

12 oz bottle to glass. Recd in trade from RobertDale had rift after a 3F alpha king. Only aroma I got was alight barnyard which I actually kinda like. Pour was a clear light amber. Taste was grapefruit and hops with bitter hops at end that last. Slightly too much bitter for me but it wasn’t overpowering. Thanks Bob

12 oz bottle-Copper pour w/o much head. Malty aroma. Mild hop bite up front, somewhat metalic flavor to it. Had some malt on the finish. Smooth & easy to drink, pretty basic brew. I would not call this an IPA, sure seemed like a Pale Ale to me.

Copper with one finger off white head. I might be losing my mind, but it smells intensely of rye to me with a hint of floral hops. Very sweet flavor and lightly hopped. Hard to distinguish any flavor from the hops since they just provide some bitterness in the finish. The taste is dominated by malty sweetness. Carbonation is fine, body is alright, bit thick for this style.

Bottle thanks to unclemike. Pours a darker translucent copper with a beige head of smooth foam. The aroma is grassy, with more attention put on the malts. Its relatively toasty and sweet with some woody notes coming through. Taste is sweet with more of a drying bitterness coming through in the finish. It’s on the verge of tartness, as well. That’s a bit of a surprise. A little sticky in the mouthfeel. Interesting beer.
