While walking through a field and enjoying a lazy summer evening, our head brewer Steve stepped on a stick that popped up and nicked his leg. Or so he thought, until he found two puncture marks on his ankle. The copperhead bite may have caused a trip to the hospital for Steve, but it also provided just the inspiration he and Chuck needed to name their new beer Ė yep, one lowly snake in the grass is the namesake of one of our most popular beers.

Copper with one finger off white head. I might be losing my mind, but it smells intensely of rye to me with a hint of floral hops. Very sweet flavor and lightly hopped. Hard to distinguish any flavor from the hops since they just provide some bitterness in the finish. The taste is dominated by malty sweetness. Carbonation is fine, body is alright, bit thick for this style.

Bottle thanks to unclemike. Pours a darker translucent copper with a beige head of smooth foam. The aroma is grassy, with more attention put on the malts. Its relatively toasty and sweet with some woody notes coming through. Taste is sweet with more of a drying bitterness coming through in the finish. Itís on the verge of tartness, as well. Thatís a bit of a surprise. A little sticky in the mouthfeel. Interesting beer.

Bottle courtesy of unclemike. Cheers, Mike! Pours a clear yellow-copper with a white head. Nose is light malt, some floral notes, and some citrus. Flavor is similar- malt, caramel, and some citrus. Light to medium in body and nice overall.

(tap at brewpub) copper with off white head. Floral/pine/citrus aroma. Flavor was pine/citrus hops, decent malt backbone. Iídíve called it an APA.

Pours a rich copper color with a finger or two of fluffy foam. Aroma has great floral touched with toasted malt..the palate follows suit with nice balance between fresh hop flavors, round earth caramel and a great refreshing bitterness on the tail end. Great mouthfeel. Quality Beer.

12oz bottle 8/7/12 (Cellar Rat-MCI)-Pours an amberish copper with a small off white head. Aroma of hops and malt. Taste of the same with more hops and some caramel. This medium bodied brew is pretty darn tasty.

Draft in a sampler at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy amber color with a finger of off-white head that leaves a sheet of lace in the glass. Aroma of citrusy and grassy hops, caramel malts, and some grapefruit peel and floral notes at the end. The flavor follows mostly the same lines- grassy hops, grapefruit, caramel, and straw. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a bitter, citrusy mouthfeel. About in line with the Endeavor, but I preferred the Lovejoy to both.

Debatable about this one being APA or IPA in flavor profile and ABV/IBUs. Somewhat light-bodied for the style. Some bitterness is there, but bready malts as well. Solid, but not great.
