3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Terminus (2617) - Las Cruces, USA - DEC 13, 2011
pours bright darker yellow wit ha small white head-nose is bright grains and some fruit malt almost apple notes. flavors of sweet pale grains very little in terms of hop flavors to make this a bit more dry. however, the beer is clean and fairly refreshing (golden state was a bit more refreshing). lots of toasted grains dominate the flavors with lingering sweetness. a decent session lager if you like them on the pale malty side.

Shaker pour at brewpub, while hanging out with Tim. This beer was right on target, I though I was drinking a straight up German lager. It worked very well after a small basketball game and I needed a drink. It was also nice to contrast to the Free State Maibock, which is nothing like a traditional Maibock. This beer was well lagered, traditional German lager maltiness all over. Hops are very low and traditional and very easy drinking. I thought I was drinking an imported beer, great job Free State.

Shaker pint draft at the brewpub in Lawrence, Kansas. Pour is a clear golden, with a smallish white head. As the beer goes down, nice lacing remains. Aroma is straw hay along with a light sweet fruit of the malt. Subdued, though clean nose. Taste is the sweetish malt up front, followed closely behind with the straw and a clean yeastiness through the finish. Really well integrated, great balance, just a clean expertly made lager. Palate is medium to light bodied, with the pleasant lingering sweet straw finish. Nice one.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Indra (2361) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - APR 24, 2011
Draft at the brewpub. Malty, sweet, lightly doughy aroma, with notes of brown sugar, very faint touches of red apple fruitiness, pale grainy malt tones and a bit of honey in the background. Very lightly hazy pale golden amber color, head is fine, subsiding. Flavor profile is light fruit, sweet, golden malts, very lightly toasty and full of sweetness throughout, somehow managing to finish somewhat crisp and with lingering honeyish, lightly bready malt flavors. Hop presence is very slight. Smooth with gentle but persistent effervescence, body is light-medium. Tasty, different, and fairly authentic -- certainly more Old World than anything Free State has done to date, that I’ve tried.
