This robust, medium-bodied dark ale marries ten malt varieties with Northern Brewer hops to create a complex, chocolaty, slightly smoky Porter in homage to the London Porter breweries of the 18th century and the "free houses", or pubs, that they supplied.

Thick and dark. Chocolate and super coffee to begin, and a slight charcoal character at the end. Delish!

Draft at the brewpub, a 10 oz. pour in a footed glass that I shared with my wife along with our 6-glass sampler. Pours a deep, dark brown with a small khaki head. Aroma of chocolate, toasted malts, earth, nuts, brown sugar, and cream. Flavor of roasted and toasted malts, earth, nuts, cream, and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, with mellow carbonation and a malty, toasty mouthfeel. Good porter; maybe my favorite beer of the lineup.

Tap at the brewery - a very dense and rich porter, with complex notes of bittersweet chocolate, coffee, and a moderate by deeply complex smoky quality to it, that compliments the moderate roastiness of the darker malts - creamy texture and full bodied for the style - loved it.

Draft at the source. Very dark marion color, thin beige head, solid lacing. Arona of dark roasted coffee, subtle cocoa. Taste is burnt espresso and dark fruits. Very nice.
