Bottle at RBWG 2013. Pours black-brown with a fine, beige cream head. Basic dark malt nose, some earth, dry cocoa. Medium sweet flavor, some further earthy bitterness, burnt bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, pretty bitter, some earth, burnt grass, bittersweet cocoa. Not too sweet. Decent.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roastiness, light dark chocolate and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roastiness, bitter chocolate and earthiness with a smooth lingering roasty finish.

Growler received from tjthresh, thanks Tom. Pours black, near opaque, rubied, with an average frothy light brown head that mostly diminishes. Aroma is moderate malt (chocolate, cookie, burnt), heavy hop (perfume, herbs, flowers) and light yeast (earth, broth). Heavy hoppiness, light sweetness and moderate maltiness to start, heavy hop finish, low malt and yeast, alcohol and an average duration. Dark bodied, oily and fizzy palate.

Hand bottled sample courtesy of footbalm (thanks!). Ratebeer rating # 2,800. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized light tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, burnt malts, and I’m getting some pine in there. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, some dark fruits, and light caramel. Tasty.
