COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This refreshing and unique beer is made from a base of pale malt and Munich malt. The unique flavors come from the use of about 25% flaked rye which adds a fresh (some describe it as minty) flavor and smooth texture as well as about 40 lbs of fresh lemon grass for a fresh citrusy background.

Pours a translucent golden with a creamy white lacing head. Aroma of rye spiciness, bready malt, lemongrass and citrus. Flavor had a spicy rye bite, cereal grains, lemon and other citrus notes.

From fresh Growler, Bright yellow with a thin white crisp head. The rye adds great thick mouthfeel which is hides the lightness of this beer. Not super lemony but enough to bring out the spice of the rye. Super refreshing for a hot day of mowing the lawn while still having enough bite and weight to make it worth it

Growler procured by beastiefan2k. Thanks for snagging this for me, Eugene. Pours a surprisingly clear dark gold with a creamy white head and nice lacing. This looks nothing like any other rye that I’ve sampled. The nose is of pale and biscuity malt with a touch of rye spiciness and some citrus and herbal/floral notes in the background. On the light side of medium-bodied, the mouthfeel is silky soft (almost like it came off cask) with a touch of light spiciness at the finish; super drinkable. The flavor is of pale and biscuity malt with a supporting rye spiciness and a bright yet well integrated lemony floral note. Time and again Steve puts out supremely drinkable session beers, and this one is no exception. This is one growler I will have no troubles polishing off by myself. :)

From a growler. The body was a medium copper color. The aroma had oranges, caramel and sweet iced tea. The taste was iced tea and toffee. There was also some roasted walnuts. A decent beer. Very smooth, like most from Free State.

On Tap: This was one of my favorite Free State beers. Very easy to drink, and quite enjoyable. The appearence is a light golden color with a tiny white ring around the top and some nice carbonation throughout. The aroma is lemony, grassy, (not to sound too stupid considering the name), hops, citrus, etc. The taste is a touch of malts, just enough to offset the hops, citrus and other great flavors. I enjoyed it.

Nothing offensive about this beer at all. Crystal clear. Golden. Light lemon. Soft on the palate, with some rye spice. I’d love to have this available all the time.

On tap at the brewpub. Yellow with an orange tint and a small white lace. Citrusy, lemony aroma with some light spice. Smells really nice. Taste is yeasty, slightly malty, with a spiciness from the rye. Very refreshing. Finish is spicy rye and floral.
