COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION The name refers to the European river that flows north from France, through the center of Belgium, before draining into the North Sea in the Netherlands. Made with Pilsner, Wheat, CaraHell, Acidulated, and Crystal malts that harmonize in a medium bodied, copper-colored ale enhanced by a soft, silky mouth-feel. It’s the yeast that provides the slightly “funky” character that sets this IPA aside. Employing the same yeast strain as the Bumper Crop Saison, but fermented at a higher temperature, this Belgian IPA has a slightly more aggressive yeast character, that has both fruit and spice character. Hints of cinnamon and nutmeg and strawberry come through as the beer warms. Sterling, Columbus, and Centennial hops provide the herbal, citrus, and fruity character of a typical North American IPA. These flavors seemingly both compliment and contrast one another in this complex flavor profile. The Bottom Line: A complex, spicy, medium bodied Belgian IPA with a copper hue.
