Licorice in the aroma... licorice and a grainy (in a pleasent way, not a bad way) flavor... I only had one... couldn’t really get a feel for it... I should probably try it again... not bad though!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gift from Maxbier. Pours dark brown/black with an amber tint around the edges and a tan head that quickly disappears. Aroma is roasted malt with caramel, chocolate, and earthy hoppiness. Flavor starts dark roasted malt and coffee with a slightly sweet caramel. Chocolate middle and finishing with an almost burnt flavor and roasted bitterness with an earthy hop finish. Lingering bitterness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle received in trade from Bigtreebrewing, thanks for the opportunity.
Solid dark brown color with faint ruby at the edges and a smallish khaki head the slowly dissipates. Chocolate and caramel maltiness with a hint of roast. Creamy silky mouthfeel. Nice beer, could maybe use a hint more roastiness though.

I love this beer. It is the best stout I have ever tasted. While my experience may be questioned, I have been to the Madison, Wi beer fest three times. This is the best stout I have ever had.

Opaque with brown head. Light sweet slightly grassy aroma. If you blindfolded me I would have guessed it was a pale ale or brown ale. Medium malt mouthfeel with some roast notes in the grassy hop finish. It is almost a black IPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Flight pour on tap at the brewery (Lawrence, KS). Pours a deeper blackish brown hue, a fairly opaque body shows some brownish glow, a bit of a ruby carmelized bottom and edges. Frothy light brown head atop stays as a mellow layer, decent film and thicker ring laces well enough. Aromas show oatmeal and earth, a bit of caramel, toast and roastiness as it settles in. Gentle coffee, caramel and black malts. Touches of a gentle creamy sweetness cut through a touch, some gentle roast cuts back a bit. Initial is medium bodied, a firmer roast and bitterness starts to hit off the batr, cutting through caramel and toast, some ashy life and gentle black coffee are prickly and a bit bitter on the palate. Earth, some decent hop character is pretty palpable on the bitterness standpoint into the backend and finish, almost a bit citric with firmer florals, a gentle roast and that mellow sweeter body trying to poke through but not really finding a chance. Backend is bitter, a bit toasty with that hop presence doing some work on the nose and backend. A bit citric, green with florals and faint pine. I rather enjoyed this beer, however the name definitely threw me for a loop.. Leaving me expecting something completely different as this bad boy offers some firmer hop character in line and running into Black IPA territory with some subtle roast. Tasty stuff.

Dark and heavy. Full body and thick. Kinda hoppy for a stout but it works well. Cola dominant. Id drink this again if I could find it in st louis.

bottle trade with RobertDale-then-on tap @Barley’s Brewhaus - Shawnee. Sharing some beers with RobertDale again, as he had traded a bottle of this after RBSG-StL, trying on tap too seemed a likely choice. Rich tan-black. A-roasty/chocolate-dk malt. T-roasty/chocolate-dk malt/oats, hint of hops.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black ,kaki head, light froth, lace. Cola chocolate aroma, planty herbal and leather, some hop or yeast funk, some dark berry. Sounds complex for an oatmeal stout. Really its fairly mild though overall. Taste is some mild roast, chocolate, some herbal planty citrus, caramel. smooth dark malts. Pretty good.Fairly rich.

12 oz. bottle thanks to GrandaddyKC, thanks Brad. Nice light fluffy foam on top of the pitch black stout. Aroma is toasted oats, roasted barely and mild earth tone.
The flavor is what you expect with a nice body from the oats no doubt, the flavor of the oats does’t come through but the chewy texture is there with a mild creaminess. Mild earthy hop for bitterness. Decent stout.

Aroma is chocolate and dark malts. The flavor is chocolate, dark/roasted malts, a low undercurrent of hops and an acidic/slightly sour fruit in the finish.
