Draft at the source. Extremely dark brown color, thin tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of pumpernickel bread and dark milk chocolate. Taste is raisin bread, plums, figs, dates. Delicious.

Pours a near black color with a khaki head. Caramel, toffee, roasty malt and chocolate aroma and flavors. Medium body and carbonation with a caramel, toffee and roasty finish.

APPEARANCE- pours nice an black, looks fairly tin, the head is thin with fine-ish bubbles but laces really nicely.
NOSE- slightest hint of roastiness.
FLAVOR- clean with light body. Slight bit of roasty malts in the flavor too. Nice long deep flavors, almost char, that stays in my mouth for quite a while after the sip. The palate may be the high point for this beer.

Free State Oatmeal Stout: a part of this complete breakfast, at least according to my Sunday ritual. Damn me if it wasn’t the best part of it. This Oatmeal Stout pours a very dark brown with a cream-colored head. Aroma of cocoa, licorice, cream, and toasted barley. Flavor had more of the same with some subtle coffee and a slightly bitter finish from the hops. Not the richest Oatmeal Stout in the world, but an exquisitely balanced one.

Bottle at home, Thanks Brad! Black pour, light tan head. Average retention. Aroma is sweet, roasted chocolate malts, light fruit, licorice. Smells nice. Taste is toasted malts, cocoa, burnt caramel, a light bitterness on the back end. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, highly carbonated. Would have enjoyed this more with a bit thicker mouthfeel.

Pint on tap. Opaque black with a lasting sticky foam on top. Nose is light cocoa, berry and coffee with cream. Flavor is the same with a bit of earthy citrus in the long finish. Near-medium body is balanced and has a medium carbonation.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep chocolate brown with a brief tan head. Nice aroma of sweet chocolate. Full body, smooth mouthfeel, slightly dry finish after the sweet taste. Pretty good!

Bottle. Chocolate, raisin, oat malt aroma. Dark brown with moderate head. Sweet chocolate oatmeal malt and moderately bitter grass flavor. Body a bit light.

Gift from Maxbier. Pours dark brown/black with an amber tint around the edges and a tan head that quickly disappears. Aroma is roasted malt with caramel, chocolate, and earthy hoppiness. Flavor starts dark roasted malt and coffee with a slightly sweet caramel. Chocolate middle and finishing with an almost burnt flavor and roasted bitterness with an earthy hop finish. Lingering bitterness.
