3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour on tap, clear orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, dough, toasted bread, hints of yeast, some slight grainy notes. Taste is a mix of grass, bread, biscuit, slight toast into a bit of earth, grain, toast, finishing sweet, dry. Pretty decent.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle -
A classic example of an octoberfest style beer, sent to me as an add on to a strange beer request from Dansting (again, big time thanks). Aroma has the hallmark example of an octoberfest - caramel, toasty, some light herbal/grassy hop angle. Lightly malted with a touch of caramel sweetness, clean flavors with a nice earthy bitter finish. No flaws noticeable in any way, and the closest I can think of a great "fest" beer like this was Kostritzer, which IMO is great company to be in. Very well done.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Alcohol notes come through the malty backbone and light hopping. Good Octoberfest specimen although not my favorite kind of beer.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance is deep, clear copper with a hint of orange. White foam cap dissipated quickly. Aroma is all caramel and toast. Taste is much the same, with caramel up front giving way to toasted bread crust. Mouthfeel is medium with a moderate carbonation and a hint of alcohol warmth. Finishes with enough hop bite to balance and a lingering toast.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Local brew picked up at Price Chopper in the Northland. Clear orangey color with moderate white head and heavy carbonation. Strong aroma of bread/toast. Clean and crisp beer. Good, but not quite in the league of the champion.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
One of the best Octoberfest beers I have drank. Not too spicy. Color is wonderful. Thumbs up

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 5/20
A pretty decent octoberfest beer. But lacking the quality, tradition, and taste of a real german marzen brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle from foppa78 - thanks, Mat, for this long-time want! Pours a clear copper on the deeper end of the spectrum with a finger-plus of off-white head that laces the glass and settles unevenly. Aroma of caramel, pils, and amber malts, dry leaves, earth, dried fruits, and nuts. Flavor of mixed fruits, caramel, leaves, toast, nuts, mild spice, and some faint toasted sugary sweetness. Light-medium bodied, with a malty, somewhat fruity mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Finishes crisp. Good marzen.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours reddish copper, fairly clear and with a modest beige head. The aroma has dryish oktoberfest malt, red berries, crackers and bits of caramel. It has a medium husky body with mild sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with dry caramel, toastiness, bread and lager yeast smoothness. The finish has graham cracker, caramel and rich malt. Nice marzen.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is sweet caramel-like malt, understated hop spiciness, fall leaves - just smells like fall. Great amber color with lots of bubbles rising to the top but a small amount of white foam. Great looking beer. Taste is refreshing, just hoppy enough with malt sweetness taking over at the end. This is what an Oktoberfest should taste like. It’s an understated style; a lot of brewers try to do too much with it. Palate is not as fizzy as the appearance, slick and smooth. This has replaced Shiner Oktoberfest as my new favorite. Now I need to get my hands on some Ayinger . . .
