Shaker at the brewpub. Pours a pretty reddish copper with a creamy beige head. The nose is bright, spicy and floral over a subdued pale malt note. On the light side of medium-bodied, it is slightly grainy with a solid spicy and bitter-hopped finish. This beer really "popped" on first sip: floral up front then quite spicy with rye and piny hop notes wrestling for your attention. There’s nothing subtle about this beer and I’m digging it. More than a couple of these would wreck you palate for a while, but you’ll smile while it happens. Another solid IPA from Free State. I’ve come to expect nothing less, and they continue to deliver.

6 oz draft pour at the brew pub in Lawrence, Kansas. I know this beer ain’t never gonna end. Pour is a golden ruby copper, mostly clear, settles down easy with thick lace. Aroma is rye grain, lightly spicy, with a warm nutty malt. Taste is dominant with the rye, a touch of mild peat earthiness and the nutty malt. Very rye spiced in the start, closing out with mineral earth finish. Palate is medium bodied, with light natural carbonation and a dry flint mineral finish. Nice, very rye focused, but well executed. Did you say your name was Ramblin’ Rose?

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a deep amber with a near what head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma has a lot of pine with a bit of with a bit of resin underlying and backing notes of rye with a hint of flora. Flavor begins a bit lighter with flora, but is grows into a resinous pine note with a good amount of backing rye.
