2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
12 ounce bottle thanks to Craig. When this beer was cold it was much better. After it had warmed a little, still cold, diacetyl appeared and never went away. The hops are great and the malts are not overwhelmed by the hops. This would be a great beer if it was not for the diacetyl.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
a really in between beer. amber colored ipa with enogh malt presence to make it weird if you were expecting an ipa, and then not enough roast by a longshot to be close to a black ipa. a big almost.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a clear iced tea brown with a loose off-white head that leaves a web of lace upon the glass. The nose is of biscuity malt backed by citrus, sweet/tropical fruit and (rye-like) spicy notes. Medium-bodied and silky-soft with a lingering, tongue-squeezing, and moderately resinous bitter-hopped finish. The flavor is a step up from the nose, with citrus and passion fruit hop notes over a soft, biscuity malt backing transitioning to a long bitter finish. While the aromatic additions took a back-seat to the malt, on the nose, the hops definitely take front-stage in the flavor profile. As I get deepen into the glass, my enjoyment of this one begins to wane a bit. While the hop profile is interesting, it begins to strip the tongue of moisture leaving a long, "green", herbal bitterness that Iím not really digging. Itís certainly not something I would consider sessionable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz. bottle. Lightly sweet, fruity nose, somewhat malty and citric with notes of caramel, brown sugar, grapefruit, faint earthiness and a certain spicy, leafy tone in the background. Mostly clear medium copper color with a lasting, fine, uneven head, quite attractive and enticing, really. Pretty nicely balanced, with a decent amount of caramel and biscuit malt flavors, combined with a sharply citric, floral, spicy, gently tea-like hop character and a substantial amount of bitterness that appears towards the finish, drying out the profile and lending a clean, lightly resinous feel. Some lingering faint bubblegum notes very late. Palate is moderately effervescent and refreshing, body is medium-full. Certainly nice to see some seasonal offerings in bottles from Free State around here, and to be able to pick up an IPA that is guaranteed to be as fresh as anything around.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep, clear amber with moderate head, mostly diminishing. Very nice on the nose - citrus and pine with grapefruit being quite noticeable. Well-balanced IPA with a good, bitter finish. A great effort from the brewers at Free State - Prost!

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This beer poured a hazy light amber color with a small beige head that fades slowly. Some light lacing is left behind. The aroma is fruity, citrus hops along with some light toffee notes. The flavor consists of orange, grapefruit, and some lightly sweet malts. Very nicely balanced for an IPA. The mouth feel is light and slightly watery. Light to medium-bodied
