This beer began as an Imperial oatmeal brown. Free Will’s brewer liked it but felt it either needed to be toned down, or have something added. One Village espresso roast coffee was cold-brewed, Kimberton brand coffee, added after fermentation and magic was born.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light brown body body under a small fizzy beige head that vanished almost immediately. The nose is a mix of coffee grounds, husky malt, and a slight bit of citrus. The flavor is a bit thin in the malt department, and the coffee adds a bit of astringency on the back end. The flavor overall is just a bit too murky and muddled. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a lingering coffee ground finish. This sounded good on the label, but the execution was fairly poor.

Cloudy sexy reddish brown with rimming beige head; aroma is very coffeeish and notes if chocolate; Flava is coffee subtly spiced with pepper(chipotle?)mand sweet chocolatey backgroud; feels medum-light silky with decent fizz; finishes dry yet sweetish with notes roasty coffee and tangy malt

Growler fill. Pours brown with an off white head. Aroma is all coffee, taste is pretty much the same with a little chocolate. Medium body with a dry finish.

I hate coffee, but love this beer. Somehow, the Brewers were able to take all the attributes of a solid brown ale.....then add coffee beans, ramp up the alcohol, and still keep it easy to drink. Tasty. Excellent. Want more.

Very interesting brew. Usually with coffee flavors this big you’re drinking a porter or stout, but this is most definitely a brown ale. Bitter coffee notes, roasty. The coffee flavor is honestly a bit too much, especially with a beer that’s thinner.

On tap at Maloney's in Matawan. Pours a clear dark amber color with a thick creamy light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel, toasted malt, and roasted coffee beans. Taste is much the same. Overly sweet caramel malts up front, some toasted grain, and roasted coffee beans in the finish.

12oz bottle from Wine Academy. Poured a muddy orange/brown with a smaller quicker fading foamy light beige head. Aroma is coffee, light chocolate, juicy oranges, medium toast and cream. Medium body with softer carbonation and a long duration on the finish. Flavor is sweet to start and finishes dry. Notes of grains, coffee beans, dark toast, grain husks, old dry sugar. Solid beer that’s a bit different with the brown ale base.

Wow this has a great aroma! Huge coffee roasted notes draw you in. The pour is your typical brown & has no head & leaves no lacing. The taste has just a hint of the coffee aroma upfront but finishes pretty boozy & kind of flat? Quite disappointing based on the exquisite aroma! Palate is a little harsh w/ the alcohol standing out. Overall good but could have been a masterpiece.

Pours a deep cloudy brown with a thin beige head. Aroma is a wonderful sweet coffee essence with some caramel and maple undertones. Taste is sweet caramel maple and sweet coffee candy and a bit of mild espresso bitterness. Palate is a medium smooth and creamy body, good carbonation and slight sticky mouth feel. Taste almost like a cup of ice cold java and with the alcohol at 8.3% you don’t notice it.The finish is the same as taste. Overall a very good tasty and enjoyable brew.
