UPDATED: NOV 1, 2013 10/31/13 $3.29 bottle from CBO 1st beer drank while giving out candy with K&L. Not a bad coffee beer. As like so many of them do, great coffee on the nose. Better mouthfeel then the espresso drank last week

12oz bottle from Wine Academy. Poured a muddy orange/brown with a smaller quicker fading foamy light beige head. Aroma is coffee, light chocolate, juicy oranges, medium toast and cream. Medium body with softer carbonation and a long duration on the finish. Flavor is sweet to start and finishes dry. Notes of grains, coffee beans, dark toast, grain husks, old dry sugar. Solid beer thatís a bit different with the brown ale base.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Wow this has a great aroma! Huge coffee roasted notes draw you in. The pour is your typical brown & has no head & leaves no lacing. The taste has just a hint of the coffee aroma upfront but finishes pretty boozy & kind of flat? Quite disappointing based on the exquisite aroma! Palate is a little harsh w/ the alcohol standing out. Overall good but could have been a masterpiece.

Pours a deep cloudy brown with a thin beige head. Aroma is a wonderful sweet coffee essence with some caramel and maple undertones. Taste is sweet caramel maple and sweet coffee candy and a bit of mild espresso bitterness. Palate is a medium smooth and creamy body, good carbonation and slight sticky mouth feel. Taste almost like a cup of ice cold java and with the alcohol at 8.3% you donít notice it.The finish is the same as taste. Overall a very good tasty and enjoyable brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Coffee aroma, medium brown with a thin tan head. Malt, nuts, coffee in the initial flavor, tapering off to a sweeter caramel. Smooth and strong, leading to a very full body and finish.

Bottle. Beautiful pour. Colored just like the bottle with some mocha mixed in (like a good mocha coffee). Coffee, oat, multigrain rice. Medium body with good oaty feel and smooth but mouthful of flavor. Long sweet grainy finish.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured dark brown with a small khaki head but no real lacing on the glass. Aroma: this beer is all about coffee, strong coffee and some malts. Taste sweet but is also coffee, some roasted malts and a slight bitterness towards the end quite sticky too. Nice enjoyable beer.

Bottle shared by John at his house. Pours brown with off white head. Nose is overwhelming green pepper with coffee and flaked oats. Some chocolate. Taste is the same but green pepper is more in the background. Lighter medium body.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Nose is big rich dark roast of coffee blending in with lighter roast of a stout or at least roasty brown. And nice and nutty! Body is a deep tawny brown with ruby and copper highlights, very short beige head. So nice to see a commercial coffee beer thatís not pitch black. Medium body is nice and layered, malty with light nuts, mild sweetness and little bitterness; good coffee flavor but not domineering, touch of rubbery astringency but on the whole very smooth, slick, clean, and slow/cold brewed. Light chocolate with fruity sparkles, no alcohol, touch of ash. I think theyíve found a harmonious recipe and the ingredients are quality, but then again, Iím a sucker for coffee beers, even if I like them ashy and dry.
