This beer began as an Imperial oatmeal brown. Free Willís brewer liked it but felt it either needed to be toned down, or have something added. One Village espresso roast coffee was cold-brewed, Kimberton brand coffee, added after fermentation and magic was born.

delightful whiffs of java immediately smack you on the nose. The full-bodied beautyís bitter java characteristics are balanced out by the honeyed notes of molasses, which makes this low-carb brown one Iíd regularly revisit. -

Has to be a top rankimg beer again. Only coffee tastes more like coffee. Deep and almost imperial style in flavor. Bitter notes as if biting in the beans themselves.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. This is one of the best browns youíll find anywhere. Donít miss it if you find it in your neck of the woods.

Looked very nice, a little on the light side. Was slightly watery. That was the not so good. The good was the flavor. Out of this world. The coffee was very nice and came through with every sip. If this beer had a bit of íthicknessí to it, it would have been rated much higher. Extra point for 8.3%

This was a killer brown ale. I drank this at a concert and was told that "FRee Will Citra" kicked and they had a coffee beer on. Cool! Pours really dark with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was coffee and grinds, and smells like a Dunkin Donuts employee. The taste was a big coffee bean, roasty, rich, big palate. Best from the brewery Iíve had!

No bottling information. Appearance: The body is an opaque chestnut through the center with mahogany sides accompanied by a dense tan head, quickly settling into a dense tan coating. Aroma: The aroma is of spicy roasted coffee, thereís little complexity but sometimes thatís a good thing. I get a very little caramel backing with a slight cocoa, but this is overwhelming coffee. Taste: This is spot on for iced coffee with creamer adding, a tinge of sourness towards the back that I associate with black coffee and mild caramel on the intro. This is great if you like coffee. Palate: The body is a bit thin, creamy texture and soft carbonation though. Overall: This bottle must be a little dated, the brewery dropped a sample off a few weeks ago that was outstanding and this is decent, but not what I remember. No surprises, who has ever heard of this brewery? Itís a shame people glazed over this excellent beer, even a bit aged this is great.

Another bottle, testing consistency.
Appearance: The body is hazy, appearing velvety, with a brown-ruby hue, with a short tan head that settles into a fine coating with a thin ring.
Aroma: Oh boy this is the worst batch Iíve smelled out of the three times Iíve had it. The coffee comes off a bit spicy and very earthy with an astringent edge to it. The aroma reminds me of iced coffee with creamer and a touch of caramel.
Taste: The intro is a mild iced coffee with creamer, the flavor remains similar to that, but gets a slight stale flavor by the finish and a touch of sugar from the bottom of a cup. There is a mild sweetness from caramel.
Palate: Full-bodied with mild carbonation.
Overall: I liked this a lot more the first time I had it. Maybe that one was a better batch, maybe it was a bit fresher, maybe it was a bit older. I donít know. I do know the magic isnít really here anymore.
