2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Rune (5000) - Tromsø, - FEB 10, 2012
330ml bottle shared by Finn. Solid, off-white head covering a golden-brown body. Spotty lacing. Nose is earthy malts added by notes of dark fruits. Taste of mid-sweet malts mixed with resinous hops leading to a smooth and dry ending. Medium bodied. Different and likable (drinking session in Tromsø, 09.02.2012).

Tap at Duke of Cambridge N1 with trinity french lot. Not that dark for a dark lager, more reddish colour, pleasant malty background, toffee and licorice, some hops on finish. Not bad....definitely best beer i tried in the home of the vegan lentils.

Tap, Criterion, Leicester. Amber, gold with a thin off-white foam. Aromas are dusty cocao powder with weetabix. Honey with soft spices. Flavours are sweet weetabix malts with yeast and hints of chocolate milkshake. Has some grittiness and peppery carbonation. Pretty good.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 larsga (4679) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 12, 2011
Medium beige head. Clear reddish brown body with light carbonation. Earthy caramelly aroma with spicy syrupy notes. Dry-sweetish caramelly earthy spicy taste with wooden rye crisp bread notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish earthy licorice and cinnamon aftertaste with spicy notes. Nice, well made, but not very interesting. (0.33l bottle, from a shop in Barnes, London.)

Agree with some of the other reviews here in that this is a beer that doesn’t quite know what it is: lager or a bitter. Stuck somewhere half way. Appearance is great. Toffee coloured and very enticing. Pours nicely with good lacing. Aroma is pretty good too. Malty with a bit of fruit. However taste is a bit out of balance with the sour bitterness slightly overpowering the very very subtle touch of malt caramel on the finish. Feel in the mouth was also a bit thinner and lacking body than I like. Interesting but not one for me first time around.
