Bottle at home in London - picked up at Cotteridge Wines. Pours clear, dark brown with a moderate, creamy beige head. Dry dark bread in the nose, some ash and earth. Light sweet flavor with tobacco, earth, some dried berries, faint leather, dusty cocoa. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Light sweet finish with dry chocolate, subtle roast, a bit of wet tobacco, burnt leaves. Nothing special but OK.

Better than you think. Even though it was cold and served in a trappist glass? A trappist glass! Donít you know who I am. On the plus side Jen said that sheíd guarantee us Friday morning session work and attendance at the after event party at her new bar in town. Good times.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Quite close to pitch black colour (very deep rubyish black) with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is caramel, mild toast, some chocolate cookies and mild "crackers". Flavour is mild ripe fruits, some toast, caramel and mild raisins as well. A bit thin in the body, but still quite much aroma and flavour to it.

We had a long discussion about the aroma, coffee smoke or old fag ends?? Medium body with a thinnish mouthfeel, the flavour is rounded and comforting. Mostly toasted smoky mocha. Ends with a little sweetness.

The Victoria, Birmingham. Cream over very deep ruby. Urinal aroma; leaves, dank english woods set on fire but barely smouldering. Leaves, hazelnut, sourish, soggy dull farts flavour.

This was a bit of a stinker. On tap at the Post Office Vaults. I was swayed by my desire for stout. My mate had one too. He said it was like drinking dishwater and fairy liquid, which in some circumstances is just what you need. Watery, tasteless and uninspiring. My last beer on my little jaunt out. The day ended in HMV in rock and pop. I said my goodbyes and slunk away, back to the bosom of my family. Itís autumnal out. Lovely it is.

Dark brown with thin tan head that collapses to lacing. not much by way of aroma, thin bodied with a touch of milk chocolate and roast coffee in finish.Quite sour for a stout. Disappointing
