Commercial Description:
Cask; Status uncertain. Also bottled by Wessex Craft Brewers (now known as Integrated Bottling Solutions).
A hand-pulled brown ale, absolutely packed with malt flavour. Back Street Heroes has a characterful finish of Worcestershire grown English hops. Brewed for the bikers magazine, it truly is the “engine oil of life”.

Cask in Bon Accord. Aroma is malty slightly oxidised, hints at cellar and grassy bittering hop. Taste is similar completly dominated by grassy bittering hop, tries to hide its bad condition, but one dimentional.

Rich brown, small loose head. Pure whole hop aroma - must be fuggles, surely? Black tea there too. Taste matches that, but with apple and lots more black tea - and hints of heading towards an old ale. Nutty too. Great old-school UK bitter. Did I mention black tea? Excellent quaffer.

Reddish brown, low carbonation. Sweet, burned suager, fruity , raisins. Tea - a flavour I don’t think I have noted in beer before. Some bitterness in the finish.Quite nice.

500ml. Low level, bubbly head on a foggy, orange-brown body. Fragile lacing on the glass. Aroma of hop resin. More resin in flavour supported by bitter caramel malts. Bitter ending (bottle from Centra Colosseum, Oslo 17.01.2008).

Small white head shrinks rapidly. Deep red body. Sweetish vinuous fruity malty aroma with musty character. Sweetish earthy malty taste with toffeeish chocolatey notes. Dry background and aftertaste. Aftertaste is much the same, but with notes of tea, honey, and hops. Nice, highly drinkable beer, but there’s no way this is a typical bitter. Could be persuaded to have another. (0.5l bottle from Centra.)

Lets see how much of a hero there is in this beer. It’s light brown with a moderate head. The aroma is malty with faint notes of smoke. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, smoke, caramel and a bit of fruit and a light bitterness. It’s OK, nothing more, nothing less - and one that is quickly forgotten... 1532

An unclear red colored beer under a tiny tan head. Berries, toffee and sweet malts in the aroma. Sweet-flavored; suger-sweetness, malt-sweetness and fruit-sweetness. Lacks some bitterness to balance. Vague yeasty, light spicy and cardboardy notes. Sticky palate. Short finish.

Bottle. Hazy copper with a small head. Fruity caramel aroma. Raisins and caramel flavours. Nice, almost like an old ale.
