COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Seasonal - Summer & Autumn. Also available bottle conditioned exclusively at the Co-op as Gold Miner.
Winner of two awards in the 1998 beauty of hops awards, this beer was especially brewed to use the "first gold " variety of hops, it has been described (by the award judges) as "orange peel and apricot blossom blended together beautifully" we prefer to say that it is an incredibly hoppy golden beer well suited to all "hop heads" everywhere.
Ingredients: Water from natural sources under the Royal Forest of Dean; Barley grown in the Cotswolds and malted by Warminster Maltings; First Gold whole hops grown in the "Three Counties"; Yeast.

500ml bottle from Co-op, labelled as Gold Miner, Bottle Conditioned. Copper colour with thin lasting white head. Interesting hop aroma. Grapefruit is really prominent. Juicy malt. Some light toffee. Grapefruit hop aroma is good with Thornton’s toffee in mouth and then balanced grapefruit hop tangy finish. This is a very good beer. Hop and juicy malt balance is excellent. Some creamy fudge and biscuit too.

Gold Miner from the Co-op... Strong floral, citrus (grapefruit and orange), hop forward aroma with underlying fruity esters. Clear golden body is topped by a lasting white head. Strong bitterness to the fruity (peach, apricot) and hoppy (citrus, earth, flowers) flavour. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Shaker glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (BB27-Apr-07, Co-op in Ottery St. Mary, May-06).

I pick this up regularly on bottles from Headington Co-op under it’s other alias Gold Miner. Orange coloured and with nice hoppy and fruity floral and zesty aroma, good hop and malt taste and nice levels of bitterness.

23 Mar 2006 - Lovely fruit hop aroma. Light cloudy orange-brown colour, good yellow head and nice lacing. Big hop fruit malt with a hoppiness that softens. Bitter hop malt finish and lingering hop aftertaste.

Orangey with a quicky disappearing head. Notably fizzy at first but quickly settles. Aroma hops and oranges. Very hoppy for a beer with such a disceptive colour, particularly in the aftertaste. Fruity but bitter.

Orange colored, slightly hazy appearance. Fastly vanishing white head. Yeasty, dry, hopped, fruity and mildly citrusy aroma. Medium bodied. Fruity, bitter flavored, ending is strongly dry with citrus tones. Black pieces of yeast in the bottom of the glass.

BCA (Gold Miner from Co-op BBE Jul 06). Fresh hoppy aromas zesty orange and more herbal resiny notes. Underlying firm malt with spicy hop notes and an interesting almost belgian yeast character which contributed to the overall interest and pleasant longevity of the finish.
