3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - AUG 26, 2003
Bottle Conditioned. A decent, well made bitter. I found this quite fruity and hoppy and very acceptable. Smokey nose. The initial mouthfeel is soft yet very full - quite gorgeous. The whole thing is nicely balanced, yet leads to a surprisingly flowery hop finish. Easy to drink and extremely tasty with low carbonation and plenty of caramel notes. A good one!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 omhper (15964) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 8, 2003
Bottled. Pale golden with firm head. Flowery smokey nose. Firm, rounded soft maltiness with a body and mouthfeel reminding of a good German Helles, even though English barley is used here. Quite bitter finish witha hint of tobacco. A discrete, introvert beer, very pleasant throughtout, never pushy or intimidating, nor average or boring.

Bottle conditioned, ABV is 4.0%. Deep golden to brown colour with a slight haziness, moderate white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma with floral notes, also some moderate malty / grainy notes. The flavour is moderately fruity and malty with a touch of caramel, some hoppy bitterness in the finish and aftertaste.

Pours a hazy amber with a handsome, off-white head with a good retention. Discreet aroma of nuts. Fairly light-bodied with lots of flavour: nuts, caramel and a hint of citrus. Dry finish without being overly bitter. A nice Bitter. 020806

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2009 Bottle. A slightly hazy golden beer with a medium sized off-white head. Mellow citrusy nose with malt and caramel blending in. Fruity start on the flavor, mostly citrus, but also a touch of tropical fruits and canned fruits. Low on malty flavors. Some caramel and roasted notes though. Quite thin on the body, but not watery. Citrusy finish with some hoppy bitterness.Malty sweetness in the very end. A refreshing and easy drinkable beer, typical all-nighter, but far from standing out in the crowd. And the name is a bit bragging, more suited for an imperial stout than for a session-style bitter. Rating: 5-4-5-3-11-2.8. (080720)
Bottle. It pours a clear, dark golden body, topped by a finger-thick off-white head leaving some lacings. Caramel maltyness and a gentle fruity hoppyness in the aroma. Citrus and tropical fruits too. There seems to be a touch of butterscotch too. Mostly fruity in the mouth, with orange, pears and some plum. Malty sweet in the back. Some bitterness lingering. Medium, smooth mouthfeel. Low on co2, like a casked beer that was opened yesterday. The beer slides down easily and sure doesn’t taste bad, but it somehow resembles a limonade or soda drink. (081108)
