Cask conditioned from Sean Bolans in Baltimore. Color of cola. Great session beer. Smooth malty taste up front, followed by a pleasant amount of hops in the finish. Left a dry, bitter aftertaste that was very flavorful.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - MAR 29, 2003
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2006 March, 2003 JDW, Rochester. A reddish amber colour - almost like iron. The hops are a mix of New Zealand Pacific Gem and American Cascade, resulting in a very juicy and sweet, yet crisply citric taste. Quite delicious. The aroma is flowery with a touch of oranges and lemons - but dusty and mature like marmalade. A good juicy brew. Yum! [3.7]
April, 2004 JDW Brockley. Dark amber - breaking foam head. A nutty and sweet best bitter with roasty notes. Hops are barely noticable in main body but grow in a long finish into an earthy warmth. A very attractive beer, fresh and tasty, good character and an interesting flavour journey. [3.8]
April, 2005 JDW Welling. Dark amber. Mixed bubble and foam head. Dry and nutty with some fruity bits hovering around citric which lead into a finish which is almost licorice. Nice. [3.2]
May, 2006 JDW, Rochester Fresh, well balanced, nicely nutty with an attractive malt that is not too sweet, nor too roasty. Hops are clean and delicious. A good, modern bitter. Lovely. [3.7]

Cask conditioned @ JDW. Rich aroma with fruit (citrus and sultanas), vanilla, and malt. Some sweetness in the thin body with caramelised crumble, toast and spices. Complex brew but slightly disjointed and thin.

Taste is similar, good malt character and a fruityness which in a round about way and since im scottish cant help but feel like iron bru due to the peppery bitterness left on your tongue. Quite a good bitter, infact sack it im in the house by myself since the wifes away and iv nothing to do im away for another few.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2006
Cask (handpump) at the Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria. Quite dark brown colour for a bitter. Thin, off-white head. Toffee malt aroma, with a touch of chocolate. More malty than hoppy on the palate. Caramel to the fore. Some sweetness, but not too cloying. Clean, fresh mouthfeel. Rather nice, although I tend to b prefer bitters that have more overt bitterness.

Hand pulled at the Briar Rose (JDW), Birmingham. This seems, to all intents and purposes to be an Amber Ale, apart from its’ nationality. Toffee and caramel aroma. Smooth, bitterness on the finish, but coupled with sweetness too. Subtle hoppiness in the mouth here: good flavour. Enough bite.

A Mes rate: cask at Baker St. ’sporks. A semi hazy copper colour with a very thin beige head. Good blend of floral hops and rich bready malt on the nose. Similar flavour. Wholemeal bread with some dried fruits and a citric finish. Straight forward but well balanced and tasty.

Cask Conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Brown amber beer with pale head. Fruity sweet malty beer, a little cloying on the tongue. Some plummy notes and a background pear drop flavour. Short on the finish and a little flabby. Ok but nothing special.
